There’s a list of other notable drivers seeking to end lengthy stretches of races without a victory, from former champion Bobby Labonte (pictured, 288 races) and owner/drivers Robby Gordon (281) and Joe Nemechek (252). All these drivers are thirsting for more each week when they come to the track. With a little luck, and some continued work on the car, each is hopeful of snapping that streak at any time.

Can they do it? Only time will tell.

Truex switched to Michael Waltrip Racing in 2010 but has not been able snap a 167-race winless streak that dates to June 2007, when he won at his home track, Dover.

After a year in which he bounced from ride to ride, Mears found a home at Germain Racing in 2011, but he has yet to find his way back to Victory Lane. His most recent win came in May 2007. He has entered 162 races since then.

Earnhardt Jr. started 2011 with a new crew chief and renewed hopes. Small steps are being made, the team is gaining ground and it once again has been capable of challenging for wins from time to time. Still, Junior is riding a 129-race Cup winless streak and carrying only one victory for Hendrick Motorsports since he joined the organization in 2008.

Burton has, for the second time in his career, played a pivotal role in rebuilding Richard Childress Racing. The organization had fallen on hard times when he joined it in 2004, then again in 2009 when none of its drivers qualified for the Chase. But Burton, who is mired in a 113-race stretch without a win, has been integral in getting the organization back on solid footing. Now if he can just turn one of those close calls into a win, he'll snap his streak, as well.

Logano and his Joe Gibbs Racing team have one career win to their credit, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2009. That was 91 races ago, though. Logano has come close to snapping his streak from time to time but struggled for much of the 2011 season.

Martin and his group struggled to find needed speed and, thus, slipped in 2011. He's now looking to return to Victory Lane and end his 81-race winless streak. Martin will do so with a new team in 2012 as he's moving to Michael Waltrip Racing and scaling back from a full-time schedule.

Certainly, Vickers has had more on his mind than just racing since his previous victory. He was sidelined with health issues but has recovered and is back to racing. His most recent victory came on Aug. 16, 2009, but he missed most of last season. Now, Vickers has run 60 races without a win.

David Reutimann and his Michael Waltrip Racing team worked to gain traction in 2011 and move back into the group of regular contenders for a win. Reutimann left the team at season's end. His last trip to Victory Lane came July 7, 2010, at Chicagoland Speedway, 53 races ago.

Juan Pablo Montoya entered 2011 after a strong series of runs in 2010 and primed for more strong runs. Generally a challenger for the victory on road courses, Montoya has come up shy on those recently. Montoya earned his last victory at Watkins Glen in 2010 and now carries a winless streak of 50 races.

The Roush Fenway Racing driver last won at Kansas in 2010. Since then, he has challenged from time to time, but the driver is still searching to win once more. While he has had some strong efforts, Biffle has now gone 43 races without a win.

McMurray and his Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team enjoyed an outstanding 2010 season, winning premier events in the series. Since winning at Charlotte Motor Speedway that October, though, McMurray has struggled to get back on top of his game. He now carries a 41-race winless streak.

Kasey Kahne returned to Victory Lane at Phoenix International Raceway late in the 2011 season, ending an 81-race winless streak. He's one of the Cup drivers who overcame a Victory Lane drought during the year. Others, though, face an offseason to ponder struggles and how to finally get that final position and into the win column again.
