A rain delay presented drivers with some unplanned downtime. In fact, it was the perfect time to chat on your cell phone and play with your girlfriend's hair - as Ricky Stenhouse Jr. & Danica Patrick demonstrated.

After the race was over, the party started for Johnson and the #48 team. Chad Knaus was soaking up the moment in Victory Lane ... soaking Kenny Wallace in the process.

Is Bruton Smith Really Moving The Fall Charlotte Race To Vegas?

Posted by Shake And Bake Crew at 3:00p ET
Charlotte Motor Speedway Las Vegas Motor Speedway

(Daniel Huerlimann)

Bruton says a lot of things, many of them outrageous.

He said he was going to build a copy of the Nurburgring outside Las Vegas.

He said he was going to move the Sprint Pit Crew Challenge to zMax Dragway.

Neither of those happened.

Keep in mind, he has sued Concord/Cabarrus County, claiming he's owed $80 million.

The threat to move the race could well be his attempt to increase his leverage in the suit.

Or it could be his attempt to create a sense of urgency among ticket buyers.

Or it could be legit.

Take your pick.

All are equally possible.

Ricky vs. Danica: All-Star Race - Who's On Top This Week?

All-Star Race Danica Patrick Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

The good news for our NASCAR lovebirds in Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway was two-fold: Both Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. transferred from the preliminary Sprint Showdown to the Sprint All-Star Race.

And, thanks to a 41-minute rain delay, they got to spend some quality time hanging out together up on Ricky’s war wagon, where Danica was spied on her cell phone.  Quick call to Mom to talk about her date? Checking on the E-Trade portfolio? Ordering a new domain name from GoDaddy.com? Only Danica knows for sure.

Let’s be honest here: Joe Gibbs Racing must be cursed when it comes to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

JGR has been the dominant team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this year, winning five of the first 11 points races. And since 2000, the powerhouse team has captured three series championships, second only to Hendrick Motorsports in that period.

But in the Sprint All-Star Race? Bupkis.

Since 2007, JGR has had one of its drivers finish in the top five in the all-star event every year. Four times since the team began racing the Sprint Cup Series in 1992, JGR drivers have finished second in this race, and five times they’ve finished third, including Saturday night.

A victory still eludes them, though.

Daryl Wright caught up with Kenyatta Houston at Charlotte Motor Speedway to discuss his latest hit single, and to ask him if he uses his NASCAR "street cred" to pick up the ladies.

Who exactly is Kenyatta Houston?

Some know him as the front row tire changer for Kurt Busch's No. 78 Furniture Row Racing team by day, and others know him as rapper "Yatta Da Kaptain."

Either way, the man has massive talent and he has yet to pull a 50 Cent.

Check out his newest song, "Welcome to the All-Star Race."
