FONTANA, Calif. - David Reutimann's second-place qualifying lap at Auto Club Speedway has been disallowed.

In post-qualifying inspection, officials found the gas-level limit exceeded in both rear shocks of the No. 00 Toyota.

NASCAR confiscated both rear shocks.

"We bought a new shock gauge last week, but didn't take it to the NASCAR trailer to have it calibrated," said Cal Wells, vice president of Michael Waltrip Racing. "The gauge read 20 poinds too ligtht.

As a result, Reutimann will start 42nd in Sunday's Pepsi 500. Greg Biffle takes over the outside pole alongside Denny Hamlin.

"We have a good car for Sunday, but we were hoping for a Toyota front row since we're at their hometown track," said Wells, who spoke to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series director John Darby right after the inspection.

NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said no further penalties will be handed out for the infraction.
