Talking Points

1. Ryan Newman called his wrecked car a tomb. It almost was.
Newman spent nearly 15 minutes inside his overturned car on the Talladega grass after flipping in the closing laps of the NASCAR Amp Energy 500 on Sunday.
He car actually landed twice on its roof. And still Newman was eventually able to walk away from the incident.
Newman put the blame on NASCAR for creating a situation in which the drivers don't feel safe on the superspeedway tracks thanks to restrictor plates.
"It's probably the closest thing to being stuck in a tomb and not being able to get out all my body weight was pressed up against my head," he said. "I respect NASCAR . I just wish they respected me."
2. The Associated Press wrote on Sunday how Texas' move to No. 2 in the latest BCS poll was "cosmetic."
Texas is No. 2 behind Florida with Alabama No. 3.
If the move is simply cosmetic, why wasn't Texas No. 2 from the beginning? Or at least last week?
There are seven unbeaten teams in the BCS and two of them will probably have to face each other (Florida and Alabama) before all is said and done.
Talking Points is hoping for less cosmetic moves and more teams to remain undefeated to really mess things up.
