| Airing on SPEED Monday through Thursday at 7 p.m. ET/PT during the season, NASCAR Nation picks up where Totally NASCAR left off, replacing the FSN show after a four-year run (SPEED / Special to FOXSports.com) |
Hendrick Motorsports appeal has been heard. The racing organization went before the National Stock Car Racing Commission today in Daytona Beach, Fla., however, the commission did not yet make a decision on the matter. The ruling is expected prior to the next Cup race at Bristol, and the commission hopes to have a decision by this weekend.
The ruling could affect the suspension of Jimmie Johnson's crew chief, Chad Knaus, who was ordered to sit out for two races following the teams win at Las Vegas. Knaus was also fined $35,000 when NASCAR found the roof on the No. 48 measured too low during post-race inspection. Johnson was docked 25 points and fell to second in the standings as a result of those point penalties.
And Alan Gustafson, crew chief for the No. 5 driven by Kyle Busch, was suspended for two races and fined $25,000. NASCAR said the car's quarter panel heights measured too high in post-race inspection after that team finished second at Vegas.
Edwards finds a home
Despite Carl Edwards becoming an overnight sensation, he hasn't forgotten where he came from. After his double victory in Atlanta, he drove all night to get home to Columbia, Mo.He wasn't there for long, however. His sponsor, Scotts, had a private jet waiting for him which flew him to New York City. Edwards helped ring Monday's closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange, then hung out in the Big Apple.
The driver of the No. 99 Roush ride is no longer slated to replace Mark Martin when he retires from the No. 6 at the end of the season. Roush Racing President Geoff Smith tells USA Today, "It's obvious Carl has found a home in the 99." And Smith says Craftsman Truck Series driver Ricky Craven may actually be the one considered for that job.
