For many loyal racing fans, Talladega is thought of as a home away from home. In its simplest form, it stands for 35 years of tradition and memories.

This sentiment is strongly reflected with this week's fan, Bobby Hall of Hueytown, Ala., and his 9-year-old son, Dalton. When asked to describe why he loves Nextel Cup racing, Bobby immediately brings up the value of tradition.

"I can still remember the trips to Talladega with my father from 30 years ago, when I was a boy. I want my son to have the same memories and stories to tell his son or kids one day, too. Having memories to share with others is what being a true fan is all about rather than just being a spectator taking up space in a seat."

The legacy of a tradition built over time is something that is truly priceless.

Bobby Hall started going to NASCAR races along with his father, uncles and cousins when he was about 8 years old. So it was no surprise to anyone that Dalton was also given the opportunity to cut his teeth on his first race last year at age 8. Bobby recalls the event fondly.

"Watching my son's expression last year at Talladega when the cars were coming around to complete lap 1 and seeing the excitement on his face has to be my new favorite memory," Hall said.

"He had watched races on TV, but when I had tried to tell him how exciting it is live, he didn't understand. But at the moment, when the cars passed by, I could see the realization click into place."
