McReynolds has over 30 years of racing experience under his cap, and has literally seen and done it all. His NASCAR career began in 1975 and he took the helm of his first team as crew chief in 1985. Three years later he earned his first Cup win at Watkins Glen with Ricky Rudd behind the wheel. In 1991, McReynolds teamed with owner Robert Yates and driver Davey Allison to win 11 races and three pole positions, establishing himself as one of the elite crew chiefs in NASCAR.
Larry won his first Daytona 500 in 1992 with Davey Allison behind the wheel. The second came after joining Richard Childress Racing in 1997, when McReynolds helped NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt capture the one missing jewel from his champion's crown. McReynolds served as a NASCAR Winston Cup crew chief from 1985-2000, amassing 23 Winston Cup wins, 21 poles, 122 top five finishes and 209 top ten finishes.
His success and thorough approach to his crew chief responsibilities earned him selection to the Copenhagen/Skoal All-Pro Team for five straight years (1991-1995), an all-star who's who of crewmembers.
McReynolds was born on January 10, 1959, in Birmingham, Alabama. He currently resides in Mooresville, N.C., with his wife Linda, daughters Brooke and Kendall, and son Brandon.
