Team Mopar gears up for Knoxville Raceway run

"We go into every event with the goal to be competitive and get the win," McMahan said. "But we'll also be using this weekend to tune up for the Knoxville Nationals. Jimmy [Carr] has won a lot of races at Knoxville and several Nationals titles, and that most definitely is a confidence booster heading into the race. With the engine program and the type of experience that this team has at Knoxville, I'm very confident heading into the weekend."
The No. 9 Kasey Kahne Racing team will make its first trip to Knoxville Raceway this week, as this will be the team's first competition at the facility with Mopar power. Speedway Engine Development builds Saldana's powerplants, and the team is looking forward to competing on the half-mile.
"We're looking to win the race," Saldana said. "You try to use these events at Knoxville as preparation for the Nationals, and we believe that winning races there is great preparation. We've been working on our engine program, and we have had quality results. We were able to qualify strong last weekend, and we believe we've found something there. We want to carry that momentum into Knoxville this weekend."
The No. 5 Forbrook Motorsports team will also compete at Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night. Driver Sammy Swindell will look to capture his fourth World of Outlaws Sprint Series win of the season. The No. 5 team has continued to build on their Gaerte Engines Mopar motor program this year, and a win at Knoxville would add to their already impressive 2006 stats.
