Eyes on '07 Chase

Judy from Sun City, Calif.: Now that your first year with Roush Racing is nearing the end, what are your goals for 2007? Everyone wants to be in The Chase, but based upon this year and all you've learned/adjusted to, what is the realistic goal you've set for yourself for 2007? I'm sorry you're not in the Chase. However, I will let you know that I'm now enjoying the races more without stressing out over every single position you gain/lose and whether that position moves you in or out of the Chase. I hope it's less stressful for you too and that you're able to concentrate on learining things for next year!

Jamie McMurray: Our focus for next year is obviously to have a better year than this one has gone. I think we will get a lot of things worked out in the off season, which should provide a better start to next season. It would be awesome to have all the Roush cars in next year's Chase, and hopefully, we help make that happen on our end.

Changes ahead

Marnie from Clarkesville, Ga.: Without a doubt, your results this year are in no way any indication of the quality of driver you are. You are an amazing talent. How is your mindset as you prepare for lots of success next year? Will there be any changes within your team or do you see the bonds strengthening to be an unbeatable group of people?

Jamie McMurray: There are a lot of pieces of the puzzle that have to be ironed out before we get anything that's final. And I don't know what's going to happen with the other teams. I've talked to Jack and I've read some of the stuff in the paper. But I anticipate that there'll be some changes made.

Looking for victory lane

Nathan from Tiffin, Ohio: Hi Jamie, how are you approaching the races from here on out? You mentioned that you would trade a win or two for missing the Chase. How do you feel about your chances to finally get back to victory lane?

Jamie McMurray: I think our No. 26 team has a great shot to get back into victory lane. We have been close a couple times so far this season. Hopefully, if we keep working hard enough, we can get our Ford Fusion in victory lane very soon.

Family affair

Jean from Colchester, Ill.: Last year, I caught a glimpse of you on NASCAR Drivers 360, and you had your nieces on there. It was great to see how committed you are to your family and charity. How is your niece?

Jamie McMurray: Last week, before the Kansas race, I was able to spend a couple days at home with everyone. It was great to see family, my sister and all my friends. Everyone is doing great. Thanks for asking...

Thanks for the goodies

Jeanine from Baltimore, Md.: Just wondering what you thought of the "goody baskets" that the fans make up for you and your pit crew for race weekends. I know we all enjoy making them (I was lucky enough to present you the one at Dover for your birthday.) Just wondering if they make the race weekends a little brighter for you and your crew!

Jamie McMurray: Totally, the entire crew and I love them. It's great when they show up on Sundays; the guys gobble everything up pretty quickly. It's funny when you see the guys playing with some of the toys that are in the baskets. They make Sundays a little brighter and a lot of fun on the hauler. Thank you guys!
