  • Steve Byrnes: What does this victory mean to you, winning at the California Speedway without Robbie Reiser, your crew chief.

Matt Kenseth: Oh my gosh, that's a special one. It's not without Robbie. Robbie was home working on this car all week while we were at Daytona. So this team is built by Robbie Reiser. None of us would be here without him for sure so it's an emotional win. It's an awesome win for us. I thought it was going to slip away. The 29 was better and had some bad fortune there, and we were able to hold him off. It was pretty awesome to do the double here . I want to thank DeWalt, Carhartt, USG Sheetrock, R&L Carriers, Rinnai. All of our partners. Ford Racing. Everybody makes this happen. This is awesome.

Steve Byrnes: Why so emotional Matt? Why this one?

Matt Kenseth: I don't know. Everyone is a little different. I really thought we were going to lose honestly when the 29 was running us down. When he had his trouble and then me and Jeff (Gordon) were battling hard earlier in the day. I knew he was going to be pretty aggressive to get the spot. So we were able to pull away at the end. These guys just pull everything together, making it happen. These guys are great.
