NASCAR confiscates Haas CNC's cars
According to a NASCAR official, both Scott Riggs' No. 66 and Johnny Sauter's No. 70 car had manipulated rear-wing mounts on the deck lid, causing them to not fit properly in the inspection grid.
NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said the violation was found as a result of the self-policing by teams in the garage area.
"It was brought to our attention, we followed up, we found it," Tharp said.
Riggs had qualified 13th for Sunday's race at Lowe's Motor Speedway while Sauter, who is outside the top 35 in owner points, had to qualify on time and was set to roll off from 43rd place. Although both drivers will be allowed to practice their backup cars and compete in the 400-lap event, they will do so using their backup cars and start from the rear of the field.
NASCAR official Brett Bodine accompanied the confiscation convoy that left the garage for NASCAR's Research and Development Center at 2:20 p.m. Early speculation is the team will be fined a minimum of $100,000 and docked 100 championship points for the infraction.

I think the fines and the removal of points is a joke. If you want to stop this type of cheating, and that is exactly what it was, confiscate the cars and send the teams home, NO RACE, NO POINTS. There is a difference between an infraction like a cap falling off, jack bolt cmoming loose and a team that tried to slip something passed NASCAR that they have been warned not to do. I know, what about the poor drivers? They need to wake up and speak out.

i think that 100 pts....is way to much for this infraction, away from the drivers...but maybe the 100k is enough of a fine. scott and johnny just driver the cars...and trying to make a honest living. hey you took the cars too! move on to dover...they should have been stopped or caught before you qualified for the race.

The cot hasnt change the racin just a different looking body, 1 cot 1 tire whats next 1 engine, gotta make it even ya know, dont want feelings hurt in na$$car, i dont see how they can throw a checker flag without checking with na$$car first

This COT is too complex and so unproven. Teams just have to experiment anything within reason to get away from the pack to survive. This isn''t racing anymore, its surviving a demolition derby.
Let the teams select the car bodies as in days of yore, and the equipmwnr to race with within NASCAR Guidelines. The rules are so strict now, they even hand you the car to race in.

Everybody's looking for an edge. Sometimes they get caught. Self policing isn't necessarily a bad thing if you're playing by the rules and someone else isn't. Still want to see "ALL NASCAR RULES" put online for all to see and interpret.

pioneer, As a Jr(Hendrick) fan I wouldn't point fingers at Haas. Have you forgotten Rick's criminal past? And Haas is a spin off team of HMS.

NASCAR is the equivalent of staged big time wrestling. I think that it would be about as much fun to go to the zoo and watch two monkeys fornicate than watch this crap! What's next, an intercontental championship belt to go with the cup?

Denny has never been one to handle adversity on the track very well.

I'd probably lay off the h0m0erotic comments for a while chief...you sound like you play for the other team.

Ahhhh......following in Gene's footsteps, huh? They're going to try to tweak the car and see what they can get away with, but with Gene behind bars you'd think they'd learn to play fair and stop trying to cheat. Stupid is as stupid does!

the two reasons i dont watch nascar
the death of # 8 and the over rulling of nascar racing i thought they where to keep racing safe but like george bush they get a little power and they think they are god
i miss nascar dose any one know where it gone if you see it tell it im looking for it to return with out being over ruled
as for nascar remember your roots

I feel this gives Haas an unforseen advantage. Now they will bring the confiscated cars to a secure federal facility where Gene Haas is serving his prison sentence and allow him to work on the cars there without the oversight of nascar officials
