He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a graduate of Gettysburg College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Before retiring, he practiced dentistry in Wellsville for over 40 years, representing the fifth generation of his family to practice medicine in Wellsville.

He had been an active member of the LANCO Micro Midget Racing Club, and was the builder and owner of several cars that were raced regularly at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. He also was an avid NASCAR fan, restored several sports cars and small aircraft, and was the one time FBO of Bermudian Valley Airpark.

Dr. Hoff was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Dr. Henry B. and Barbara Fisher Hoff. A brother, Henry B. Hoff, Jr., also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Weldie Hoff; three sisters: Ernestine, Barbara and Joanna; four daughters: Kathy, Mary Elizabeth "Beth", Margaret and Barbara; and four grandsons: Jamie, Joseph, Alex, and Zachary.

There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2008, at 11:00 AM in the Grantham Brethren In Christ Church, 421 Grantham Rd., Grantham, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to LANCO Micro Midget Racing Club via a board member or the Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, P.O. Box 266, Enola, PA 17025.
