Following years of stability in the crew chief position, Matt Kenseth and his No. 17 Sprint Cup Series team will have their third different boss in three seasons starting next year.

FOXSports.com has learned that Nationwide Series pit boss Drew Blickensderfer has been promoted to head the team. Chip Bolin, who held the position last year, will go back to work as an engineer at Roush Fenway Racing.

The 2009 campaign will be the third consecutive year that Kenseth has a new pit boss. Following a decade long partnership that began in the Busch Grand National Series, former pit boss Robbie Reiser was promoted to the general manager position at Roush following the 2007 season, putting Bolin in charge in 2008.

Kenseth, the 2003 Cup Series champion, finished 11th in the championship with Bolin in charge - his first finish outside the top 10 since 2001. The Wisconsin native went winless in 36 starts, also a first since 2001, earning nine top-five and 20 top-10 finishes.

Although Blickensderfer started 2008 as crew chief for Roush's No. 17 Nationwide Series team, he swapped places with Pierre Kuettel and joined Carl Edwards' No. 60 team. The pair went on to win seven of the final 19 races.
