Gunselman withdrawal gives Smith 2nd chance
LOUDON, N.H. - Mike Wallace and the Larry Gunselman-owned No. 64 team have withdrawn from Sunday's running of the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 Sprint Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
As a result, Regan Smith and the No. 78 Furniture Row team will take the final spot in the race.
"Of course I'm relieved. We haven't missed a race that we've attempted yet," said Smith, last year's rookie of the year. "And this is a place where I feel we can run really good at."
"This is a second lease on life for me and the team."
Rain showers in the Loudon, N.H., area forced the cancellation of qualifying for Sunday's race, and the starting lineup was set via the owner points. Since Gunselman's team has more race attempts than Furniture Row, which is running a limited schedule, they had the final spot until withdrawing from the race.
