Mayfield attorney John Buric scoffed at the idea Mayfield is a potential danger and revealed the driver was tested twice Monday - once at an independent lab and once at his home by NASCAR .
Buric added that he doubted the driver will be in Chicago for this weekend's event. Mayfield has until this afternoon to enter his Mayfield Motorsports' car or find another team owner willing to hire him .

Stewart, Busch on 'same page'
INDIANAPOLIS | Tony Stewart called his last-lap dust-up with Kyle Busch at Daytona International Speedway last weekend "just a part of racing," and Busch apparently agrees.
Stewart said he spoke to Busch on Tuesday and that they were on the "same page" following the accident that sent Busch to the infield care center and Stewart to Victory Lane Saturday night.
Busch, who skidded to a 14-place finish , hasn't spoken publicly since the wreck.

Mountain west agrees to BCS deal
SALT LAKE CITY | After taking its fight to change the Bowl Championships Series to Congress, the Mountain West Conference is reluctantly agreeing to a BCS TV deal.
The MWC still doesn't receive an automatic berth to a BCS game, but needed to sign the agreement with ESPN so the league's nine schools would be eligible to play in one of the top-tier bowls.

AKRON, Ohio | A controversy erupted at the LeBron James Skills Academy on Monday night when two videographers recorded a pickup game in which Xavier's Jordan Crawford dunked on James.
CBSSports.com reported that a Nike representative confiscated tapes of the dunk after conferring with James.
A representative with Nike, which runs the camp , said taping of after-hours pickup games is not allowed.

dykstra says he owes $31 million
LOS ANGELES | Former New York Mets outfielder Lenny Dykstra has sought bankruptcy protection in Los Angeles, citing more than $31 million in debts.
Federal court documents show Dykstra filed for Chapter 11 status on Tuesday. He listed assets of $50,000 or less and liabilities of between $10 million and $50 million.
Dykstra is a former All-Star who spent 12 years with the Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies. He won a World Series with the Mets in 1986.

Phelps, peirsol win at nationals
INDIANAPOLIS | Michael Phelps won the 200-meter freestyle and 200 butterfly at the U.S. nationals Wednesday night, earning a trip to this month's world championships .
Aaron Peirsol created the biggest buzz at the Indiana University Natatorium pool by reclaiming his world record in the 100 backstroke. The Olympic champion trailed Matt Grevers at 50 meters before pouring it on down the stretch to win in 51.94 seconds.
Peirsol became the first person to swim in less than 52 seconds in the event .

A group including NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Seahawks coach Jim Mora reached the summit of Mount Rainier on Wednesday. The climb is a fundraiser for the United Way of King County (Wash.) .
