Allmendinger's test date not set yet

AJ Allmendinger will be represented by an independent toxicologist when his "B" urine sample is tested, according to the driver's business manager Tara Ragan.

NASCAR temporarily suspended Allmendinger on July 7 following notification that his "A" sample had tested positive. He has since announced plans to have his "B" sample tested, per NASCAR rules, but the lab has not scheduled a date as of yet, Ragan told FOXSports.com by phone on Friday.

According to the 2012 NASCAR Rule Book, Section 19-11 B (2): “The NASCAR member may be present (either personally or represented by a qualified toxicologist not associated with Aegis) during the second test at his/her expense. If the NASCAR Member chooses to be present personally or represented by a qualified toxicologist during the “B” sample test, the NASCAR Member must notify the PA (Program Administrator) and MRO (Medical Review Officer) within the 72 hour period in writing…”

A sourced report by the Associated Press had stated “Allmendinger wants his own toxicologist and attorney present” and “ “because Allmendinger is bringing his own people, the test of the sample will not occur until next week,” but given the language of the rulebook, Ragan said having an attorney at the test was never a consideration.

Allmendinger was informed by the MRO last Saturday of the results.

Allmendinger’s initial “A” sample came back positive for stimulants, according to a statement that was released by the driver’s representatives.
