Crew member hit on pit road, injured
Sean Irvan, the jackman for the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team, was treated and released from Martinsville (Va.) Memorial Hospital after being hit on pit road during Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway.
Irvan, a native of Monterey, Calif., suffered a concussion, neck strain and medial collateral ligament strain in his right knee. He suffered the neck and knee injuries and lost consciousness after being hit by the No. 5 car of Mark Martin on pit road during a pit stop early in the race.
Irvan was transported by ambulance to the hospital after an initial evaluation in the infield care center. X-rays and a CT scan performed at the hospital showed Irvan did not incur more severe injuries.
