Harvick's car damaged by skydiver

FORT WORTH, TEXAS
Kevin Harvick received an unwelcome surprise as he left the drivers' meeting prior to Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup AAA Texas 500.
A 20-pound sandbag weighing down a skydiver’s flag during the prerace ceremony pulverized the driver’s door of the No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet.
Harvick tweeted: Never good when the day starts with a parachute weight hitting our car... Welcome to 2012...
Upon assessing the damage, Richard Childress Racing competition director Dr. Eric Warren said, “I don’t think it’s bad. It’s not going to hurt us. The biggest thing is ensuring that it doesn’t come apart at the seams. But it’s just cosmetic.”
With NASCAR Sprint Cup Series director John Darby and other officials looking on, the No. 29 team made quick repairs. After about 35 minutes, the crew rolled the car out of the garage and back to the grid.
Harvick, who won Saturday night’s Nationwide Series race, rolls off 23rd.
