Joe from Verrado, Ariz.: Do you have any info on John Story's defection from Robby Gordon Motorsports to Dale Earnhardt Incorporated?
Jeff Hammond: I have a lot of respect for John Story. He's done an outstanding job helping Gordon establish his team. Unfortunately, business is business. After holding marketing and/or communications positions with Greg Norman's Great White Shark Enterprises, International Speedway Corporation, Walt Disney World and the PGA of America, Story is a logical fit for DEI as he pairs up with Max Siegel, president of global operations. They make a nice combination because they have similar backgrounds, but Story has more racing experience. That's probably why DEI went after Story, who has elected to work with an established team. Story can help Siegel get his feet firmly planted on the ground with the do's and the don'ts in this business.
Tide is out
Saundra from Dayton, Ohio: Are the rumors true that there is not going to be a No. 32 Tide race car this season? If so, when was the last time a Tide car didn't race in Nextel Cup? Jeff Hammond: To the best of my knowledge, there will not be a Tide car racing this year. The last time I think that happened was 1987 when we saw the Tide car roll out at Daytona for its debut or maiden voyage as far as the Daytona 500 is concerned in 1987. It's been 20 years.

L.B. from Little Elm, Texas: Please pardon my ignorance, but wasn't Eddie Dickerson still the chassis guru for Hendrick before leaving for the Wood Brothers? At least, I hadn't heard that he stepped down or anything. Will losing a guy like that hurt the organization? Jeff Hammond: Eddie Dickerson has been gone from Hendrick Motorsports for two years, and I really believe that the HMS is firmly established, no matter who leaves there. That organization is strong enough to fill the holes and voids that are left by any individual's departure. It's always sad when you see a guy leave, but sometimes, change is necessary. Dickerson should help the Wood Brothers improve their program as they try to help Jon Wood and Ken Schrader on the No. 21 team.
