Menard to race despite minor injury
Paul Menard will race this weekend despite a minor injury.
Prerace coverage from Kansas begins June 5 at 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
According to the Richard Childress Racing team's Twitter account, the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver “cut his right foot earlier this week while working at his house.”
He did receive stitches and is on crutches, but it is not expected to impact his run Sunday in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. According to the Associated Press, the driver has 20 stitches in his foot. Menard is 17th in the series standings.
Elliott Sadler, the Nationwide Series points leader, is on standby in case Menard needs a relief driver. RCR provides technical support to Sadler's Nationwide team, Kevin Harvick Inc.
"If they need me, I will definitely jump in that car and help as much as I can," Sadler said. "But, hopefully, (Menard) will be OK."
