NASCAR takes parts from JGR cars
NASCAR seized parts from the Joe Gibbs Racing cars Friday.

BROOKLYN, Mich.
NASCAR confiscated the oil pans from the Nos. 11, 18 and 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas on Friday at Michigan International Speedway.
NASCAR tagged both pans under Sec. 20 in the rulebook: race equipment approval -- failure to submit equipment.
“The parts were never submitted,” said NASCAR Sprint Cup Series director John Darby. “It’s black and white. It’s not that it’s different than what we’re used to seeing, it’s that these parts were never submitted by the company.”
Darby insisted the infraction was not about "illegal parts." He added that "all the engine builders use a different (oil pan) configuration...," but several competitors in the garage felt that the heavier oil pan would lower the center of gravity on the front of the car therefore potentially offering an aerodynamic advantage.
Darby added that there could be “potential” repercussions for use of the unapproved parts.
Denny Hamlin drives the No. 11, Kyle Busch the No. 18 and Joey Logano the No. 20 in the Sprint Cup Series.
