Penske tabs Guy to lead Keselowski's Cup team

Guy heads to Penske Racing following a three-year stint at Denver-based Furniture Row Racing.
The 36-year-old Lancaster, Penn., native says he's looking forward to building a program around a driver with Keselowski's potential.
"(Keselowski) has definitely won a lot of races in the Nationwide Series," Guy said. "There's a great upside to him. This is what I've worked for the last 20 years, to have an opportunity such as this with a company like Penske Racing."
Guy's NASCAR roots date to Dave Marcis' team in 1986 and along the way he has teamed with drivers such as Jamie McMurray, Johnny Benson, Casey Atwood, Dave Blaney, Hermie Sadler and Ted Musgrave in the NASCAR Camping World and Nationwide Series'. He worked with JTG/Wood Brothers Racing for three years before moving to Furniture Row Racing, but still considers team owner Eddie Wood "one of the most influential figures" in his life.
In 2007 and 2008, Guy oversaw the No. 78 team with drivers Kenny Wallace and Joe Nemechek. This season, FRR opted to run a limited schedule with Regan Smith behind the wheel. In 18 starts, Smith posted two top-15 finishes.
Although Furniture Row Racing will return to a full schedule in 2010, FRR president and general manager Joe Garone is not surprised that Guy would accept an opportunity work "with one of the top five organizations in the sport" and wishes him well.
"With all the resources that Penske has to offer, this was something that Jay just couldn't pass up," Garone said. "If he had let this chance go, he'd always wonder what could have happened. There are no hard feelings whatsoever, Jay is still like family.
"For us, this is really the perfect storm. We'll take what Jay has contributed and continue to build our program for the future."
Roy McCauley, who has served as a Cup Series crew chief for the past four years with the team, will remain with Penske Racing as the assembly shop manager.
