Dennis Rodman arrives at the Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony in Springfield, Mass., on Friday night in his own inimitable style. Ten players and coaches were inducted, with Rodman delivering an emotional speech.

He scored over 17,000 points in the NBA, but he fondly remembered his college career at St. John's after being introduced by his former coach, Lou Carnesecca. "I chose the best coach in the best city, and I played in the world's most famous arena," said the three-time All-American.

"Thank you, Hall of Fame, for honoring my life's work," said VanDerveer, one of five Division I coaches with more than 800 wins. She has taken Stanford to eight Final Fours, winning two titles.

Magee is the winningest coach in college basketball history with 922 victories in 44 years at Division II Philadelphia University. Still active at the age of 70, he's not done yet.

The "A-Train", here being introduced by Julius "Dr. J" Erving, was the most dominant big man in ABA history and a six-time All-Star in the NBA. "Millions of people have laced up their sneakers since Dr. Naismith invented the game several miles from here in 1891 and every one of them would love to be in my shoes today," Gilmore said.

The Russian center was one of the most skilled big men in basketball history. He helped the USSR win the 1988 Olympic gold medal, beating Team USA in the process, but he wasn't able to play in the NBA until leg injuries had diminished his effectiveness.

An eight-time champion with the Boston Celtics, Sanders was elected as a contributor for his involvement with NBA programs following his playing career.

Dennis Rodman was introduced by Phil Jackson, his former coach with the Chicago Bulls. Jackson also introduced Tex Winter, his longtime assistant and teacher of the triangle offense.

Rodman choked up several times during his speech. "I didn't play the game for the money, I didn't play the game to be famous," said the flamboyant forward, who led the NBA in rebounding seven times and won five championships.

Rodman thanked commissioner David Stern and the NBA community "to even just have me in the building" and saved his deepest appreciation for coaches Phil Jackson and Chuck Daly, Lakers owner Jerry Buss, and James Rich, whose family took Rodman in after his mother threw him out of the house.

Edwards played in five Olympics for Team USA, winning four golds and a bronze. No other basketball player comes close to that achievement.

Often called the brain behind Phil Jackson's incredible success as a head coach, Winter helped teach the triangle offense to Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Jackson himself.

Chris Mullin, Tara VanDerveer, Tom Sanders, Herb Magee, Arvydas Sabonis, Artis Gilmore, Reece Tatum, Tex Winter, Teresa Edwards and Dennis Rodman are the newest class of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
