If you think it's easy to pick the best Chicago Bulls of all time, well, you're right. Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan led the Bulls to six titles and may be the greatest duo in NBA history. But after those two, the choices aren't quite as clear. What about the role players on those title teams, such as Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman? How about Derrick Rose, the 2011 NBA MVP? Instead, we're going with three guys who starred in Chicago before MJ. (Yes, the Bulls existed before Jordan.) Check out our top five.

Pippen will always be remembered as Michael Jordan's sidekick, but that doesn't diminish his stature in Bulls history. It enhances it. After all, Pippen was the first teammate Jordan truly trusted and respected. His suffocating defense, athleticism and unselfishness were a perfect complement to MJ's dominant game and personality. Chicago's reign in the 1990s almost surely wouldn't have happened without the Pippen-for-Olden Polynice trade in 1987.

The original Bull, Sloan was the first pick of the 1966 expansion draft and the face of the franchise for a decade. A tenacious defender and rugged rebounder for a shooting guard, Sloan still ranks fourth in team history in points and rebounds. Thanks to Sloan, Chicago became known as a hard-nosed, no-nonsense team – the same qualities he instilled in the Utah Jazz as that team's coach for two decades.

Before Jordan arrived in Chicago, Love was the franchise's most unstoppable scorer. The smooth forward led the Bulls in scoring for seven straight seasons from 1969-76 and twice averaged more than 25 points. Along with guards Norm Van Lier and Jerry Sloan, "Butterbean" helped Chicago enjoy four 50-win seasons.

A superstar in the ABA for the Kentucky Colonels, Gilmore came to Chicago in 1976 and established himself as one of the NBA's best big men. The 7-foot-2 lefty averaged 20.1 points and 11.2 rebounds in six seasons with the Bulls, but he wasn't dominant enough to turn Chicago into a contender. With a few more good seasons, Derrick Rose can replace the "A-Train" on this list.
