News: Bynum (knee) has been ruled out of the Pacers' first-round playoff series against the Hawks, the Pacers' official site reports. Impact: After Indiana's first postseason practice Thursday -- minus Bynum, despite his presence on the sideline -- coach Frank Vogel said that there's "still a chance [Bynum plays in the playoffs]." If the Pacers survive the Hawks, which is expected considering the 1 versus 8 nature of the matchup, Bynum may be able to fill in as a reserve for Roy Hibbert in the second round.(RotoWire, )

News: Bynum (knee) attended Thursday's practice but was unable to take part, the Pacers' official site reports. Impact: Since draining his right knee in mid-March, Bynum has been resting and rehabbing the region, with the hope that he'll be available at some point in the postseason. However, the Pacers seem overly optimistic regarding his potential contribution to the frontcourt rotation, which included Ian Mahinmi spotting Roy Hibbert at center for most of the season. Modest minutes aren't out of the question, but the 15-to-18 that team president Larry Bird proposed recently are likely wishful thinking.(RotoWire, )

News: Bynum will be brought back slowly, but the Pacers hope he will be available to help them in the playoffs, the Indianapolis Star reports. "Obviously we brought him in for one reason and that's the playoffs," team president Larry Bird stated. Impact: Bynum has played just two games since being acquired by the Pacers, and has been on the inactive list since mid-March due to his ailing knees. The Pacers hope the swelling that flared up can be managed in time for the playoffs, but will continue to proceed cautiously, with the hopes of having the big man available for a deep playoff run. Bird added further comments on Bynum in his interview, stating that "People don't remember but two years ago, he's probably the best center in the league. So if we can get anything out of him, 15-18 minutes a game, he can play. We know he can play, it's just getting him out there." It's clear Bird intends to use his $1 million asset, but the exact timing of Bynum's return to action remains to be seen.(RotoWire, )

News: Top-seeded Indiana won't have Andrew Bynum for its first-round series against Atlanta. Coach Frank Vogel said Thursday that he believes the Pacers' oft-injured center could still work his way back for the playoffs. But he won't be available for the first round, which opens Saturday in Indianapolis. Impact: The Pacers signed the free agent in early February with hope he would add depth behind All-Star center Roy Hibbert. Bynum looked good in his Pacers debut, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds. But he hasn't played since March 15 because of a sore right knee. (STATS, 00:11am)
