Started the year by winning playoff-type game against the Heat. Followed that with a puzzling loss in Cleveland. Rajon Rondo has been outstanding; only time will tell if this team actually cares about the regular season.

3-1 - 2/10
First week of Pat Riley's grand experiment showed this Heat team has its holes...and also has the ability to flip the switch and run just about anybody out of the gym. If the defensive intensity stays high, this ranking will climb in the coming weeks.

Don't read too much into the beating an extremely desperate Utah team put on the Thunder on Sunday night. Big things are still ahead for these new kids on the upper-echelon block.

Did the second-half disappearing act in Miami mean the Magic are overhyped or that the Heat can just be that good? We'll see, but Dwight Howard looks motivated and there's plenty of time for revenge and redemption.

Brandon Roy, hot shooting and great team play have keyed a 3-1 start. We'll know a whole lot more next week after dates with Oklahoma City and the Lakers.

Derrick Rose is really good and still getting better; Joakim Noah has been a force, too. The Bulls have some flaws but still expect to be very much in the mix all season long.

The home loss to Memphis can be excused for now and must be forgotten. After jogging past the Clippers on Sunday, the Mavs now get set for two straight with Denver and a visit from Boston.

Quite a leap, yes. But it was quite a week with Chris Paul leading victories over the Nuggets and Spurs and looking MVPish in doing so. If he keeps it up, New Orleans will win plenty.

We know who they are, and they know they'll be fine. They'll need more from Tony Parker to eventually be among the last few standing, but the Spurs have chemistry and experience that will push them through.

Nice 3-0 start for a team that's seemingly still a notch behind the East's big boys but will get plenty of chances to prove that gap is closing. Should keep winning this week with Cavaliers, Pistons and T'Wolves on deck.

Carmelo Anthony keeps scoring like crazy...and keeps insisting he'd be better off somewhere else. Interesting days and tough decisions lie ahead.

Killer schedule hasn't helped, but the Suns haven't found their trademark, catch-us-if-you-can stride. There's plenty of season left, but also a gaping hole in the middle after the departure of Amar'e Stoudemire.

1-2 7 4/26
Paul Millsap has been a monster. Al Jefferson has plenty of catching up to do. He'll eventually get it, and Deron Williams will guide this team to plenty of victories.

2-1 1 8/19
They won all preseason, they won in the first week of the real season and continue to make people think they might be ready for the postseason. The Grizz are certainly a team worth watching.

0-3 6 10/25
This team has talent, tons of depth...and everything but a win thus far. Had the Lakers on the ropes on opening night and failed to play four full quarters in two other games, too.

1-2 5 12/25
Brandon Jennings still matches his "wow" plays with periods in which his lack of maturity shines through. Loss in Minnesota is inexcusable, but big ones with Portland and Boston lie immediately ahead.

2-1 6 12/25
Danny Granger and Roy Hibbert led Pacers to wins in two of their first three. Hibbert's development and improved depth are reasons to think the wins, finally, might keep coming.

2-1 6 19/30
Two road wins in the first week signal progress. Tyreke Evans gets to the basket at will and has plenty of teammates who can score. They'll play fast and play plenty of interesting ones.

2-1 6 17/26
Need a healthy Steph Curry to keep winning. Probably wouldn't have beaten the Lakers even if Curry had played, but they're still running and gunning and Monta Ellis has been tough on opposing defenses.

21

1-2 - 10/25
Arrival of Amar'e still keeping Knicks in the headlines, but close losses to Celtics and Blazers keep them where they've been: under .500. Another tough week with Orlando and the Bulls lies ahead.

22

1-2 2 19/30
Big opening night win over Boston preceded a blowout loss in Toronto and second-half collapse vs. Sacramento. This team will be up and down all year and is anxious to get Mo Williams (groin inury) back in the lineup.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear | Tickets
23

0-2 4 18/30
No Gilbert Arenas and no wins yet. But John Wall more than looks the part and will keep getting better. Still a team to watch.

24

2-1 4 21/29
Two wins and one gigantic Miami reality check have the Nets feeling OK, much better than last year. It's a team with promise but still tons of work to do.

25

0-3 2 18/29
Flat start, but D.J. Augustin's scoring bodes well for the future. Still closer to a return to the lottery than being able to consistently beat the big boys, though.

0-3 8 15/29
Blake Griffin is a monster. People are watching. And they're still losing, like the Clippers always do. There's time to turn things around, but the early returns were expected to be much better.

27

1-1 3 22/30
They're better on the defensive end and Linas Kleiza is a nice fit in their up-tempo system. But the Raptors are still miles away from relevance.

1-2 1 23/30
Lots of people still aren't sure if this team has much direction, but it does have some exciting young players and a chance to show marked improvement from last year. Stay tuned.

0-3 7 12/29
Evan Turner is playing pretty well, and that bodes well for the future. As for the present, well, this team has plenty of work to do. Louis Williams has been a bright spot off the bench.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy | Schedule | Gear | Tickets
30

0-3 3 19/30
They've been in games but found ways to lose them ¿ like getting outscored by 25 in the fourth quarter against the Bulls. Still lacking identity and top-level scoring.
