Are the Suns really the best team in the NBA? Probably not. Have they played the best basketball so far this season? Absolutely. So let's reward achievement and put them atop the Power Rankings. How long they stay there is up to them.

NBA Power Rankings Week Of 11/10/2009
Rk Team Last Wk Rise/Fall High/Low Comment
1 Suns 8 (+7) 1/11 (7-1) Wins in Miami, Boston, Washington and Philly? Most teams won't accomplish that all season. Phoenix did it in seven days.

2 Celtics 1 (-1) 1/3 (7-1) Nearly lost in Minny, couldn't stop the Suns and then struggled in Jersey. So much for 82-0.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
3 Lakers 3 - 1/3 (6-1) They'll surely be more dominant once Gasol returns. But for now, it sure is fun watching Kobe score like he used to.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
4 Magic 2 (-2) 2/4 (5-2) All that depth can't make up for the absence of Vince and Rashard, especially when Howard can't stay out of foul trouble.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
5 Hawks 11 (+6) 5/12 (5-2) Forget Shaq, Ron-Ron, Vin-sanity and 'Sheed. The best new addition to a team so far has been Jamal Crawford (18.1 ppg), the early frontrunner for Sixth Man of the Year.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
6 Heat 9 (+3) 6/13 (5-1) Traded three times over the summer, Quentin Richardson may have found a home in Miami, averaging 10.5 points and 5.8 boards and playing some pretty good D.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
7 Nuggets 4 (-3) 4/7 (5-2) They're playing worse and worse as this six-game East Coast trip continues. Problem is, there are still two games left. Then the Lakers will be waiting when they get home.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
8 Mavericks 7 (-1) 7/9 (4-2) Nice start would be nicer if they'd made a free throw down the stretch in New Orleans. Still, this is a formidable team, especially with Howard back.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
9 Cavaliers 6 (-3) 2/9 (4-3) This will be an interesting week as Shaq matches up with Dwight Howard on Wednesday and the other O'Neal (Jermaine) Thursday. This is what they got him for, right?
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
10 Trail Blazers 12 (+2) 7/12 (4-3) Starting Andre Miller was a good move by McMillan. Miller wasn't happy as a backup and a lineup with Miller, Steve Blake and Brandon Roy gives Portland three guys with point-guard skills.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
11 Spurs 5 (-6) 5/11 (3-3) Pop is managing minutes to keep everyone fresh -- no Spur is averaging even 30 per game -- yet Duncan and Parker already have ankle problems. That's a bad sign.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
12 Rockets 10 (-2) 10/14 (4-2) Chuck Hayes starts at center. Trevor Ariza is the leading scorer. Carl Landry is the top inside threat. This team can't really be any good, can it? Houston's a classic example of a team whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
13 Bulls 17 (+4) 13/17 (4-2) Joakim Noah has become the kind of player any coach would love to have on his team. You didn't expect that, did you?
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
14 Thunder 18 (+4) 14/20 (3-3) Russell Westbrook's putting up a bunch of good numbers -- 18.2 points, 8.2 assists, 5.3 rebounds. And one really bad one -- 5.2 turnovers.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
15 76ers 14 (-1) 14/17 (3-4) Elton Brand's making $14.9 million this season. Sam Dalembert's raking in $11.4M. Yet Philly's best big man is Marreese Speights, a bargain at $1.7M.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
16 Jazz 15 (-1) 10/16 (3-4) Remember when the Jazz never used to lose at home? Now even the Kings are able to leave Utah with a win. A disappointing start could get much worse with games in Boston, Philly and Cleveland this week.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
17 Raptors 16 (-1) 16/19 (3-4) They've already given up 125 points three times, spoiling an explosive offensive start for Bosh and Bargnani.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
18 Pistons 20 (+2) 16/20 (3-4) They lead the league in field-goal percentage defense thanks mainly to Ben Wallace. No one's typed that sentence since 2003
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
19 Bucks 25 (+6) 19/27 (3-2) With Andrew Bogut and Brandon Jennings, they have something few teams can boast -- a quality center and point guard. Unfortunately, that's all they have right now.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
20 Bobcats 21 (+1) 20/23 (3-3) Raja Bell should be an inspiration to his teammates all season for trying to play with torn wrist ligaments.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
21 Clippers 22 (+1) 21/22 (3-5) Is Chris Kaman the best center in the West? He's averaging nearly 22 and 10 so far.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
22 Wizards 13 (-9) 13/22 (2-5) Gilbert's businesslike approach is understandable since he's trying to shake his rep as an injury-prone goofball. But the Wiz are starting to take on his new personality -- joyless.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
23 Pacers 24 (+1) 22/24 (2-3) Hibbert's early production and Hansbrough's promising debut offer hope that Pacers won't be so perimeter-oriented.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
24 Hornets 19 (-5) 8/24 (3-5) Byron Scott finally benched two of the worst starters in the NBA, Julian Wright and Morris Peterson. Now maybe New Orleans will get its act together.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
25 Kings 28 (+3) 25/30 (3-4) The bright side of Kevin Martin's injury is it allows Tyreke Evans to play shooting guard, his natural position. The immediate result? Evans scored 55 points in two Kings wins.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
26 Warriors 26 - 26/26 (2-4) Should have done better than 2-2 against Grizzlies, Clippers, Kings and Wolves. Now schedule gets serious with six of next seven on the road.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
27 Grizzlies 27 - 25/27 (1-6) If Iverson can't accept anything less than being The Guy, he needs to retire. Most great players willingly take on lesser roles in the twilight of their careers, but his game and his personality might not allow it.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
28 Timberwolves 29 (+1) 28/29 (1-7) There are going to be a lot of bad nights for the Wolves, whether it's scoring 72 vs. the Bucks or giving up 146 to the Warriors. The challenge for Kurt Rambis will be keeping his young team from giving up.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
29 Knicks 23 (-6) 23/29 (1-7) It's one thing for Knicks officials and fans to prostrate themselves in front of LeBron and other impending free agents. But the players probably shouldn't be doing it.
Team: Home | Stats | Fantasy
30 Nets 30 - 28/30 (0-7) At least the injury-riddled Nets are trying hard. That's more than you can say of the Knicks.
