New Jersey Nets Getting Inside
by Sports Xchange
The Nets all but buried their season with a NBA-worst 0-18 start, a record-setting skid they ended last Friday against Charlotte. Their first attempt for a two-game win streak went up in flames in New York Sunday. So they came back, claimed their initial road win by beating the Bulls in Chicago Tuesday. And now Wednesday, they have the Warriors at home.
And the Nets hope they can carry the momentum of Tuesday's win, which was of the gut-check variety. The Nets slugged it out with the Bulls throughout the endgame before emerging with the victory.
"We only have two wins," said Chris Douglas-Roberts, "but this was the first one we really had to gut out. This was a gut check. Throughout the NBA season there are a lot of these and it was great to see how we reacted to the pressure."
And now they want to see how they can react to the possibility of two straight.
NETS 103, BULLS 101: Style points were at a minimum but the Nets got their second win of the season. They wasted a double-digit fourth quarter lead and then, after the Bulls went on top, squandered a five-point lead with 1:52 left. But Devin Harris drove and the Nets had something they failed to claim so many times this season: a close game win. When you're 2-19, any win is nice but considering how many games got away from the Nets late, this one was special. Brook Lopez scored 25, Chris Douglas-Roberts had 20 and Harris scored 17 points.
