The San Antonio Spurs defense holds the Cleveland Cavaliers in check en route to a victory in six games. The following includes recaps, boxscores, play-by-play and stats from the series.

Game 1: The Spurs shake off the rust quickly to take a resounding 1-0 series lead with a 113-87 victory at home. Tim Duncan leads all players with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Game 1: Summary, stats and complete play-by-play

Game 2: San Antonio holds serve at home to take a 2-0 series lead with another impressive win, 117-89. The Spurs all-around team play is evident with six players in double-figures, led by Manu Ginobili's 20 points. Game 2: Summary, stats and complete play-by-play

Game 3: LeBron James comes to life in the Cavs second double-overtime thriller of the playoffs — this time winning 129-125. Behind James' 38-point, 15-rebound, 12-assist triple-double. Cleveland rebounds with the crucial home win to make it a series at 2-1. Game 3: Summary, stats and complete play-by-play

Game 4: Much maligned for his inconsistent free-throw shooting, LeBron James makes four in a row from the charity stripe in the last 23 seconds to ice the game for the Cavs and even the series at 2-2. James just missed his second straight triple-double with 32 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Game 4: Summary, stats and complete play-by-play

Game 5: In what could prove to be the most important game of the series, a San Antonio scoring outburst leads to the first victory by a road team in the series. As part of an intriguing subplot, Tim Duncan outshines his superstar counterpart LeBron James with a triple-double of his own. Now the teams will head back to San Antonio with the Spurs needing to win just one more game. Game 5: Summary, stats and complete play-by-play

Game 6: Bruce Bowen may have only scored nine points, but his work on defense helped to force LeBron James and the Cavs to shoot only 32.3% from the field and score just 13 fourth-quarter points in the decisive Game 6 of the NBA Finals. Game 6: Summary, stats and complete play-by-play

NBA Finals MVP: Tim Duncan — A strong case could actually be made for LeBron James in a losing effort, but Duncan gets his fourth NBA Finals MVP award with a solid all-around effort. Duncan finished the six-game series as his team's leader in points (23.3 ppg), field-goal percentage (60.6%), rebounds (12.2 rpg) and blocks (2.8 bpg) while also adding 4.8 assists per game. The Spurs won their fourth championship in convincing fashion with Duncan as their cornerstone.

Other Notable Players: LeBron James, 28.7 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 6.8 apg, 1.2 spg and 1.7 bpg; Zydrunas Ilgauskas, 12.5 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 2.2 apg and 1.7 bpg; Tony Parker 22.2 ppg, 6.5 apg, 4.8 rpg, Fabricio Oberto, 8.8 ppg, 54.3% FG, 12.2 rpg, 1.0 bpg, Bruce Bowen, 9.2 ppg, 58.8% FG, 53.3% FG3, 4.2 rpg, 2.0 apg; and Manu Ginobili, 15.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.7 apg and 1.2 spg.
