Jason Kidd wants out of New Jersey, and at least one NBA star would be happy to have a new teammate.

LeBron James, whose Cavaliers just lost Anderson Varejao for a month to an ankle injury, made it clear Tuesday he thinks the Nets' All-Star point guard can help take Cleveland to the next level.

''I would love to have a guy like Jason Kidd to be a part of this franchise. I think it makes us that much better of a team,'' James said, according to a report on the Akron Beacon Journal Web site. ''Everyone knows how much I love Jason Kidd, just throughout the summertime (when they played for Team USA). It's not hard to see how much I'd love to have him as part of the team.

''Honestly, when you see Jason Kidd wants to be traded, you shouldn't have to go to the front office and tell them to get on it. It's Jason Kidd.''

Asked by the Beacon Journal if Kidd was the missing link that could bring the Cavs an NBA title, James replied, "Yeah. It's that easy."

Cleveland would likely be willing to trade anyone on its roster, minus James and Varejao, to acquire Kidd, the newspaper reported, citing unnamed sources. Whether or not the Cavs have the players or salaries to match up with Kidd's considerable contract and value remains to be seen. Bringing in a third team could also be a possibility.
