Good news, T-Mobile customers: There is now an opening in Dwyane Wade's "Fave 5."

The cell phone giant has pulled its TV commercials starring former NBA star Charles Barkley following his drunken-driving arrest on New Year's Eve in Scottsdale, Ariz..

In a statement, a T-Mobile spokesman said that the Barkley ads had been successful, but "given the recent developments, for the time being, we've replaced TV ads featuring Mr. Barkley with more general-market advertising." The spokesman added: "As he works through his personal matters, we will evaluate where to go from here."

Many of the spots also featured Wade — the Miami Heat guard who currently leads the NBA in scoring at 29.0 points per game — trying to convince Barkley to include him in his "Fave 5" plan.

After the arrest, Barkley — now an analyst for TNT's NBA coverage — took a leave of absence Friday.

Test results show Barkley had a blood-alcohol level of .149 percent, nearly twice the legal limit of .08 percent in Arizona. A copy of the police report said that Barkley told a police officer he was planning to "drive around the corner and get (oral sex)" when the incident occurred.

Barkley will be off the air for a minimum of several weeks, and no return date has been set, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press.

"When I spoke with Charles, he was apologetic for the events that transpired and it was obvious he understood the significance of this situation," said David Levy, president of Turner Sports, said in a statement. "This is an important time for Charles as he deals with the legal and personal issues that confront him. Charles is a valued part of the Turner Sports organization, and we are concerned for his well-being."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
