The Los Angeles Clippers are making room for Blake Griffin and clearing salary-cap space, all in one fell swoop.

L.A. will trade power forward Zach Randolph to the Memphis Grizzlies for Quentin Richardson, according to multiple reports. The deal can't be completed until next week because of a league-wide moratorium on moves.

Randolph was traded to the Clippers last season and led the team in scoring (20.9) and rebounding (9.4).

But he became expendable when the Clippers won the draft lottery and selected Griffin, a power forward like Randolph and the national player of the year from Oklahoma.

L.A. also will get rid of Randolph's contract, which has two years and $33.3 million left on it. Richardson is under contract for only one more season.

Richardson averaged 10.2 points for the Knicks last season and was dealt to the Grizzlies on draft day for Darko Milicic.
