Carmelo to consider Nuggets extension?

After rumors swirled on Tuesday about a potential trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, the Nuggets forward may not want to leave Denver after all.
Though Anthony has stated publicly that he would like to play in New York for the Knicks, he said on Wednesday that he would "take a real hard look" at signing the Nuggets' three-year, $65 million contract extension if he is not dealt by the Feb. 24 trading deadline, according to the Denver Post.
The Nuggets offered the extension to Anthony back in June, but the former Syracuse star has expressed no interest in signing it until now.
During Denver's shootaround on Wednesday, Anthony also denied reports about a possible trade to the Lakers for Andrew Bynum.
"I've never heard of that. That was a new one," Anthony told the Post.
"It is what it is. Everyday is something different. I guess now is the Lakers."
Anthony has a house in Los Angeles, and his wife, Alani "La La" Vasquez, is a television personality for MTV.
The Knicks and Lakers would most likely want Anthony to sign an extension if they were to acquire him.
