SCOUTING REPORT: Carroll improved his stock by earning MVP honors during the recent Portsmouth Invitational camp in Virginia, but remains a classic NBA tweener. While he has the size to play on the wing, his outside shooting needs improvement and he must get more comfortable handling the ball. Projected as a late second-round pick, Carroll could be a scrappy inside player despite his lack of size. Nicknamed "The Junkyard Dog" for his toughness, he played most of his junior season with an ankle injury but reached double figures a team-leading 22 times and scored 13.0 points per game. Carroll averaged career bests for points (16.6) and rebounds (7.2) as a senior to help the Tigers reach the NCAA tournament's regional finals for the fourth time in school history. He also earned first team all-Big 12 Conference honors, and was an honorable mention all-American in 2008-09. The Birmingham, Ala., native spent his first two seasons with Vanderbilt before transferring to Missouri. He played as a power forward for the Tigers as a junior before transitioning into a wing player in his final season. Still, Carroll only attempted 44 attempts from 3-point range and made 16 (36.4 percent). He also has a tendency to get into foul trouble, but fouled out of only one game last season after leaving eight games as a junior. He also struggled at the free-throw line in shooting 60.4 percent in four seasons and 63.4 percent in 2008-09.
