Reports: Warriors dump Nelson as coach

Don Nelson apparently is done as coach of the Golden State Warriors.
The team's new owners have decided to replace Nelson with assistant Keith Smart, according to multiple reports. The move is expected to become official before training camps open next Tuesday.

Don Nelson may have the most wins, but he's well behind Gregg Popovich on our list of the 10 greatest NBA coaches.Nelson, 70, became the NBA's all-time leader in wins last season. He has an overall record of 1,335-1,063 with three Coach of the Year awards in 31 seasons.
In his second stint with the Warriors, Nelson helped engineer an upset of the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 playoffs. It was the first time a No. 8 seed has defeated a No. 1 seed in a seven-game series.
Golden State has struggled the last two seasons, however, going 29-53 and 26-56.
Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, expected to be ratified as the team's new owners soon by the NBA, reportedly decided on the coaching change. Nelson, who had one year left on his contract, will collect his full $6 million salary and probably stay retired, according to reports.
