76ers' Collins leaves game with vertigo

PHILADELPHIA (AP)
Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doug Collins failed to return for the second half of Wednesday night’s game due to recurring symptoms of vertigo, The Philadelphia Daily News reported Thursday.

Collins missed two preseason games due to lingering symptoms related to a concussion suffered during Memorial Day weekend.
“I had another one of those bouts that I had the other day," Collins said. "I can't take my medicine on days of games because it makes me so tired.”
Collins, 59, reportedly fainted in a Phoenix coffee shop in May. He broke three ribs and sustained the concussion when his head hit the floor.
The former Olympic shooting guard and four-time NBA All-Star reportedly had been feeling better in the two weeks leading up to Wednesday's game.
"I got up at halftime and I had that really dizzy feeling and I asked [assistant head coach] Mike [Curry] to grab my arm because I didn't want to fall,” Collins said. “So he sort of led me into the doctor and he gave me my medicine and said he just wanted me to rest.”
The Sixers, who held a 57-31 lead at the half, went on to a resounding 101-75 win over the Indiana Pacers with Curry at the helm during the second half.
