Ex-NBA ref sues Wilkins

A former NBA referee-turned-tailor accused Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins of assaulting him at a Hawks-Magic game in March after he demanded $12,000 for allegedly unpaid suits, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
In a lawsuit filed Friday, Rashan Michel claimed he made no threat to Wilkins over the apparent debt before the nine-time All Star repeatedly punched him in front of basketball fans near the floor of Philips Arena.
Michel initially was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery following the Mar. 30 brawl after witnesses said he instigated the altercation, but the charge was later dropped.
Wilkins, who starred for the Hawks between 1982 and 1994, was not charged.
Michel is seeking unspecified damages, claiming he has suffered physical and emotional pain and public humiliation as a result of the incident.
The former NBA and college basketball official also said he was fired from his part-time job as an SEC referee because of the altercation with the legendary small forward.
