Cops release details in Randolph case

Police said Monday the man claiming he was beaten with pool cues inside the Oregon home of Memphis Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph was invited by the basketball star to sell marijuana at his mansion.

Here's the worst contract on each team.James Ruben Beasley told police he was encouraged to sell marijuana to anyone interested among the 20 or so people partying at Randolph's house late Friday night in West Linn, 15 miles south of Portland, The Oregonian reported.
Beasley claimed he met Randolph earlier in the evening aboard a charter cruise along Oregon's Willamette River and was invited to an after-party at the NBA player's $1.47 million mansion.
But at approximately 4 a.m. local time Saturday the party atmosphere turned ugly as Beasley allegedly came under attack.
"Mr. Beasley said four to seven people jumped him and beat him bloody with pool cues," said Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. James Rhodes.
Beasley went to a local hospital for treatment but did not call police to report the incident until 2 p.m. Saturday.
Police then served a search warrant at Randolph's home Sunday. They did not find drugs, but did locate broken and bloodied pool cues matching Beasley's description, according to The Oregonian.
Randolph, 30, was home at both the time of the incident and when the search warrant was served, police said. He has not spoken to deputies through the advice of his attorney, according to The Oregonian.
Beasley told investigators Randolph was not involved in the attack.
