News: Humphries averaged 8.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game in 69 games this season for the Celtics.
Impact: Humphries started only 30 games this year for Boston, as the team was eager to give experience to younger players. He now heads into the off-season as a free agent, though there is talk the Celtics would like to bring him back. His days as a starter and solid fantasy contributor are probably behind him.
Vitor Faverani - #38 - Center - 6'11" - 260lbs
News: Despite a hot start, Faverani ends the 2013-14 with only 37 games played (and a 13.2 minutes per game average) due to a season-ending knee surgery in March.
Impact: Faverani's rookie season began with eight starts during the first third of the season, but mediocre production quickly relegated El Hombre Indestructible to a bench role. Then, in March, surgery on his left knee to repair a torn lateral meniscus forced him to miss the remainder of the season. Faverani is signed through the 2015-16 season and will return to a bench role after rehabbing his knee.
News: Bradley fought through another injury riddled season and improved his three point shooting by eight percentage points to 39.5%.
Impact: It was another season filled with promise and nagging injuries for Bradley. He experienced a career high 14.9 points per game. Bradley also improved his field goal percentage to a respectable 44%, up from 40% the prior season. But troubles with his ankles and achilles forced him to miss 22 games. The Celtics will be able to match any offer made to Bradley in the off-season, so it's likely he returns to Boston as the favorite to start at shooting guard.
Keith Bogans - #4 - Guard-Forward - 6'5" - 215lbs
News: Bogans ended the year without being affiliated with an NBA team, as he was dismissed by the Celtics on April 13th.
Impact: The 33-year-old Bogans appeared in only six games this season. It seems likely that the veteran's NBA career is over.
News: Bayless improved his 2013-14 season after being traded to Boston, averaging 10.1 points, 3.1 assists, 1.2 treys and one steal per game in 41 games with the Celtics.
Impact: Bayless saw over four more minutes per game after leaving Memphis in January for Boston, averaging 25.3 minutes for the Celtics. The move nudged Bayless closer to fantasy relevance as his stats improved across the board. Bayless now becomes a free agent in the off-season, making his fantasy future a bit murky. He'll be hard pressed to find a fit as favorable as the instant-offense role he had in Boston.
Brandon Bass - #30 - Forward-Center - 6'8" - 250lbs
News: Bass saw consistent minutes throughout the season, starting 73 games and averaging 11.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game.
Impact: Bass was a sneaky, under-the-radar power forward during the 2013-14 season, providing fantasy owners with decent "big man" stats throughout the year. He has another year remaining on his current deal with the Celtics. His role for next year is hard to predict. He was the subject of many trade rumors last year (especially during the Omer Asik fiasco) and his expiring contract may prove desirable for other teams. But he'll likely be another late-round source for cheap big man stats in 2014-15.
Chris Babb - #52 - Shooting Guard - 6'5" - 225lbs
News: After starting the season with the D-League's Maine Red Claws, Babb finished the year having played in 14 games for the C's, averaging 9.4 minutes and 1.6 points per game.
Impact: The Celtics have two more years of team options to keep Babb as a low cost reserve. Next year, Babb should be considered as a draft option in only the deepest of fantasy leagues. Babb will need a strong Summer League showing to stick with the team.
Joel Anthony - #50 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs
News: Anthony, despite the mid-season trade from Miami to Boston, continued to see very little playing time in 2013-14, averaging 5.6 minutes per game.
Impact: The change in venues did little to change Anthony's NBA status as a deep reserve. While his minutes increased from 3.1 per game in Miami to 7.1 per game in Boston, he still managed only 1 point and 1.5 rebounds per game during his 21 games for the Celtics. Anthony exercised his player option for 2014-15 and will return to Boston as a defensive big at the end of the bench.
Jeff Green - #8 - Guard-Forward - 6'9" - 235lbs
News: Green played in all 82 games during the 2013/14 season, averaging 16.9 points (a career best), 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 treys per game.
Impact: Green was expected by some to have a break-out season this year, but it didn't happen. While he averaged a career best 16.9 points per game, that came from an inefficient 41% shooting percentage. Green also had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 0.85, making it difficult for the offense to always go through him. Look for Green to continue next year as a helpful complimentary player who can hit a three, score and rebound, but will ultimately defer to Rajon Rondo as the leader of the Celtics.
News: Rondo returned from the prior year's devastating ACL injury to play 30 games, averaging 11.7 points, 9.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Impact: The real goals for Rondo during this past season were to prove his knee problems were behind him and establish himself as the Celtic's future leader. Mission accomplished. Rondo gradually returned to the starting line-up in January and would have ranked second in the league in assists per game had he played enough games to qualify. This was clearly a rebuilding year for the Celtics, so there was no reason rush Rondo back early or force him to play in back-to-backs. Next season is a contract year for Rondo. Look for a big season next year from the 28-year old. He has his health back, wants to return to All-Star form, and is playing for a big contract.
Joel Anthony - #50 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs
Thu. Apr 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Anthony will exercise his player option for the 2014-15 season, CSN Northwest reports.
Impact: The deadline to make such a call isn't imminent, landing on July 1, but considering he'd make substantially less on the open market than the $3.8 million he's slated to earn next season, he'll remain in green and white. Since arriving in a January deal from Miami, he's been a forgotten man, appearing in just 21 of 43 outings, while averaging one point (on 38.5 percent shooting) and 1.5 rebounds in 7.1 minutes.
News: Olynyk went for 24 points (10-16 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, and five assists in 30 minutes Wednesday versus Washington.
Impact: Olynyk performed very well offensively, scoring a team-high in points while also setting up his teammates to score five times. The rookie then provided seven rebounds as well to complete a well-rounded outing.
News: Humphries (knee) will miss the Celtics' season finale against the Wizards on Wednesday, the team's official site reports.
Impact: This will be Humphries third straight game that he will miss due to knee tendinitis. With Jared Sullinger also out due to an ankle injury, Kelly Olyny and Brandon Bass should see heavy run on Wednesday.
News: Bayless (knee) will be held out of the Celtics' season finale against the Wizards on Wednesday, the team's official site reports.
Impact: Bayless will miss with a sore right knee after an MRI revealed a bone bruise early this week. With Rajon Rondo (hamstring) also out, Avery Bradley and Phil Pressey should take on point guard duties while Bayless and Rondo sit.
News: Sullinger (ankle) will miss the Celtics' regular season finale against the Wizards, the team's official site reports.
Impact: Sullinger has missed the Celtics' last two game and will now miss his third. Sullinger averaged 13.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in 27.6 minutes of action, including 44 starts.
News: Rondo (hamstring) will not play in the Celtics' season finale against the Wizards, the team's official site reports.
Impact: Rondo returned to action Monday after missing a few games during the weekend prior. However, a sore left hamstring will hold him out of Wednesday's game. Rondo played in just 30 games this season, averaging 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Celtics.
Tue. Apr 15, 2014 | STATS
News: Rondo finished with eight points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds Monday.
Impact: He's probably glad this season is ending.
Tue. Apr 15, 2014 | STATS
News: Olynyk scored 28 points to lead the Celtics Monday.
Impact: He's totaled 53 points and 21 boards in the last two games.
News: Olynyk scored 28 points (10-19 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 6-7 FT) to go along with nine rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes Monday against Philadelphia.
Impact: Playing big minutes Monday with both Kris Humphries (knee) and Jared Sullinger (ankle) out of action, Olynyk could see similar minutes in the team's final game Wednesday against the Wizards.
News: Rondo (leg) just missed a triple-double in 35 minutes Monday against Philadelphia, as he scored eight points (4-8 FG, 0-1 FT) to go along with 11 rebounds, 14 assists and two steals.
Impact: Rondo has averaged 14 assists over his last three appearance and is ending his injury-shortened season on a high note.
News: Rondo was popped with an elbow in the nose in the first quarter of Monday's game but was able to return to the court, CSNNE reports.
Impact: Rondo was down for the count for a minute, and it was unclear if he'd be able to continue to play, but he'll tough it out, even though this game doesn't mean much for Boston. He's already dealing with an ailing leg, so monitor his status after Monday's game, as it's unclear if he'll play in the Celtics' season finale.
News: Rondo (leg) will return Monday and start at Philadelphia, after missing the last two games, CSNNE reports.
Impact: Rondo isn't a lock to see major run but will probably be a good source of assists and steals, even if the Celtics are conservative with his minutes.
News: Sullinger (ankle) will likely miss the final two games of the regular season, the Boston Globe reports.
Impact: Sullinger has already been ruled out for Monday's game, but coach Brad Stevens indicated that he probably won't play Wednesday. This past season, Sullinger averaged 13.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in 27.6 minutes, which included 44 starts. He'll look to improve on these numbers in his third season with the Celtics.
News: Rondo (shin) went through a full shoot-around and is a game-time decision Monday against the Sixers, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports.
Impact: With the Celtics seemingly having nothing to play for, it would not be surprising to see them sit their best player for the remaining two games of the NBA season. Still, it's very possible that Rondo will be on the court Monday, however it may be on a limited basis.
News: Rondo (shin) is questionable for Monday's game against the Sixers, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com reports.
Impact: Rondo is at risk to miss his third straight game, and with the Celtics sitting at 25-55 with nothing to truly play for, it wouldn't be overly surprising to see him sit once again. If he's out, Avery Bradley and Phil Pressey will take on the majority of the point guard minutes, and could both be in the starting lineup once again.
News: Bayless (knee) has yet to rejoin the Celtics, and won't play Monday night against the Sixers, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com reports.
Impact: Although an MRI on Bayless' knee revealed just a bone bruise, coach Brad Stevens will remain cautious and not rush him into action. With Rajon Rondo (shin) questionable, look for Avery Bradley and Phil Pressey to take on most of the point guard responsibilities.
News: Humphries (knee) will not play Monday night against the Sixers, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com reports.
Impact: Humphries will miss his second straight game, and fourth in his last five, as a result of knee tendinitis. Although no announcement has been made for Wednesday's finale, fantasy owners shouldn't count on him being available for then either. With Jared Sullinger (ankle) also out, look for Kelly Olynyk and Brandon Bass to see heavy run, along with Joel Anthony off the bench.
News: Sullinger (ankle) will not play Monday night against the Sixers, A Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com reports.
Impact: Sullinger will miss his second straight game with a sprained ankle, and he'll likely be questionable for Wednesday's season finale. With Kris Humphries (knee) out as well, Kelly Olynyk and Brandon Bass should continue to see heavy minutes, with Joel Anthony also contributing off the bench.
News: Bayless (knee) had an MRI that only revealed a bone bruise and it's possible that he'll rejoin the Celtics when they play Philadelphia on Monday, Mass Live reports.
Impact: Bayless has missed just one game with his right knee sprain, but he's now in serious jeopardy of missing the Celtics' final two games. If he's unavailable Monday, then his next chance to return comes against the Wizards on Wednesday.
Keith Bogans - #4 - Guard-Forward - 6'5" - 215lbs
News: Bogans (personal) has been dismissed from the Celtics, Mass Live reports.
Impact: Bogans has been away from the team since Jan. 7 for personal reasons. The exact details are still unknown, but apparently the Celtics grew tired of Bogans not being present with the team.
Gerald Wallace - #45 - Forward - 6'7" - 220lbs
News: Wallace (knee) began the rehabbing process and has yet to experience any pain, the Celtics' Official Site reports.
Impact: Wallace began rehab one month after the surgery he had to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee. He's preparing for next season and has long been ruled out to play again this year. The veteran stands a good chance to be ready at the start of next season if he doesn't face any setbacks.
News: Shin splints caused Rondo to miss Boston's game on Saturday against Cleveland.
Impact: Held out for precautionary reasons, it is likely Rondo will not play again this season, as the team may opt to rest him for the final two games.
News: Humphries is out with an injured right knee.
Impact: He's been in and out of the lineup with the injury. At this point, he's likely done for the season.
News: Bayless is out with a bruised right knee.
Impact: Boston would like to have him back for the final game of the regular season, as they had just nine bodies for their game on Monday.
News: Center Kelly Olynyk matched a career high with 25 points and also grabbed 12 rebounds, leading Boston to a 111-99 victory over Cleveland on Saturday.
Impact: Olynyk joined some elite company, as he became the first Boston rookie since Paul Pierce to grab 25 points and 12 rebounds in a game.
News: Bradley stretched his 20-point scoring streak to three games Saturday in the win over the Cavaliers, posting 25 points (9-15 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with eight boards in 31 minutes.
Impact: Since returning from an Achilles injury, Bradley has averaged 23.7 points in three games and hit 13 3-pointers over that span. With a late flourish, he could get near 40 percent from three-point land.
News: Olynyk went off for 25 points (11-23 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT) with 12 rebounds and three assists, before fouling out after 39 minutes in the win over the Cavaliers on Saturday.
Impact: Olynyk took on a bigger role with Jared Sullinger (ankle) out. The two Celtic forwards provide such similar talents (decent offense/below average defense) that it's hard to play them together. If Sullinger remains out, Olynyk could finish the season on an upswing.
News: Sullinger sat out for the Celtics on Monday.
Impact: Sullinger sprained his left ankle in the third quarter on Friday, but returned and scored 20 points. Celtics coach Brad Stevens said the ankle became swollen overnight and the decision was made to sit him out.
News: Rondo is missing his second straight game Saturday night because of a strained left shin.
Impact: Rondo, who was sidelined until January because of knee surgery, has played in 29 games this season.
News: Olynyk could be an excellent option in daily leagues Saturday at Cleveland, as Jared Sullinger (ankle) has been ruled out and Kris Humphries (knee) is a game-time decision.
Impact: With Sullinger out, Olynyk is the likely starter at center, and could see 30-plus minutes in that scenario. It's not clear how serious Sullinger's ankle sprain is, but if he misses further time, Olynyk would be a good option the rest of the way.
News: Humphries is a game-time decision Saturday in Cleveland due to knee tendinitis, the Boston Herald reports.
Impact: If Humphries sits, Kelly Olynyk and Brandon Bass figure to hog all the frontcourt minutes, as Jared Sullinger (ankle) has already been ruled out for this game.
News: Sullinger has a left ankle sprain and won't play against Cleveland on Saturday, the Boston Herald reports.
Impact: The decision has the feel of a tanking move, as we were unaware of the injury before Saturday. The Celtics play again Monday and Wednesday, so owners will want to follow up on his status before Monday's game to see if he'll be a contributor again down the stretch.
News: Rondo (leg) didn't make the trip to Cleveland on Saturday, the Boston Herald reports.
Impact: The Celtics then travel to Philly on Monday and host the Wizards on Wednesday in the season finale, and it's unclear if Rondo will be available for either contest. Continue to monitor his status before Monday's tilt, if you're hoping to get some late-season assists, but make sure he's out of your lineup Saturday.
News: Sullinger finished with 20 points and seven rebounds in a 106-103 win over Charlotte on Friday.
Impact: Sullinger has averaged 18.4 points and 7.6 rebounds over his last five games.
News: Bradley has been a force since missing three games because of a strained right Achilles tendon. He had 22 points and hit four 3-pointers in a 106-103 win over Charlotte on Friday.
Impact: Bradley has totaled 46 points while making 8 of 10 from beyond the arc in his last two.
News: Humphries (knee) will go through pre-game warm-ups and could play Friday versus the Bobcats, CSN Northeast reports.
Impact: Humphries has missed the past two games while dealing with tendonitis in his knee. An MRI earlier in the week revealed no structural damage, so Humphries will go through pregame workouts and a decision regarding his status will be made prior to game time.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | STATS
News: Phil Pressey had a career-high 13 assists, helping Boston to a 106-103 victory on Friday night.
Impact: Pressey, starting in place of the injured Rajon Rondo, also scored 10 points.
News: Bayless (knee) will stay in Boston to undergo an MRI, A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN New England reports.
Impact: Bayless suffered a right knee sprain during Friday's game against the Bobcats, and will have it examined just to make sure the issue isn't any more severe than that. The Celtics haven't ruled out the possibility of Bayless joining the team in Cleveland for Saturday's game, but at this stage of the season, it seems more likely that the team would just let him rest even if his MRI results prove encouraging. Bayless had a nice two-game run as a starter earlier this month but has since returned to the bench with Avery Bradley coming back from injury.
Jeff Green - #8 - Guard-Forward - 6'9" - 235lbs
News: Green scored 18 points (8-11 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT) in 34 minutes in the win over the Bobcats on Friday.
Impact: Green had a great shooting night, after struggling with his shot over the previous two games (13-of-36, 36.1 percent). This was likely a one-game blip, but he's shown the ability to at least provide 15 points per game.
News: Bradley scored 22 points (8-16 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT) in 38 minutes in the win over Charlotte on Friday.
Impact: Bradley has averaged 23 points in his last two games and has been given major minutes since returning from a Achilles injury. He won't continue to hit four 3-pointers per game but may be an interesting player to watch in the final week of the season.
News: Humphries (knee) returned from a one-game absence and grabbed seven boards in 11 minutes in the win over the Bobcats on Friday. He also added four points (2-5 FG).
Impact: Humphries can be a big time rebounder, but his minutes have been relatively low under coach Brad Stevens. If Jared Sullinger (ankle) is limited Saturday in Cleveland, Humphries could be a decent play.
News: Pressey started for Rajon Rondo (shin), doling out 13 assists with 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt) and three steals in the win over the Bobcats on Friday.
Impact: Pressey went from a four-minute player Wednesday in the loss to the Hawks to a starter in the first Boston win since Mar. 19. Rondo was a late scratch and may be available for Saturday's game in Cleveland, so Pressey's run as starter may be short-lived.
News: Sullinger sprained his ankle in Friday's win over the Bobcats but was able to return to the game and provide 20 points (8-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with seven rebounds in 28 minutes.
Impact: Sullinger has scored at least 15 points in four of his last five games (and at least 20 three times). His double-double streak ended at two, but he looks like he could be a solid offensive contributor.
News: Sullinger returned to Friday's game versus the Bobcats, after heading to the locker room in the third quarter due to a left ankle sprain.
Impact: Sullinger was able to walk to the locker room by himself, and after getting his ankle taped up, he returned to the bench and eventually entered the game. Unless he experiences pain or discomfort afterward, he looks like he should be fine.
News: Bayless suffered a right knee sprain and won't return Friday versus the Bobcats, Comcast SportsNet reports.
Impact: Bayless injured his knee in the second half, knocking him out of the rest of Friday's game and possibly more depending on the severity of the injury. In the meantime, his absence should mean more minutes for Phil Pressey and Avery Bradley in the backcourt.
News: Sullinger suffered a mild left ankle sprain but is probable to return to Friday's contest against the Bobcats.
Impact: Sullinger went down holding his ankle in the third quarter but is expected to return, after the region is taped in the locker room.
News: Pressey will start Friday against the Bobcats.
Impact: With Rajon Rondo a late scratch due to a bruised shin, Pressey will step in to start at point guard. Pressey should see extended minutes Friday and in any future games that Rondo might miss with the shin injury.
News: Rondo (shin) won't play Friday versus the Bobcats.
Impact: After the possibility of Rondo playing in all of Boston's remaining games was in play, he felt he was in too much pain from a shin bruise to play Friday. His absence will open up more minutes for Phil Pressey and Jerryd Bayless at point guard.
News: Humphries (knee) will play Friday versus the Bobcats. "He had an extra bounce in his step this morning," said coach Brad Stevens.
Impact: Knee tendinitis kept Humphries out of the last two games, but he'll make his return and likely play near his season average of 20.1 minutes off the bench. He enjoyed a solid month of March, though, averaging 11 points, 7.5 rebounds and one block in 23.9 minutes.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sullinger (thigh) was a game-time decision but managed to play and record 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 37 minutes of action.
Impact: This marks the fourth-straight game that Sullinger has played 30 plus minutes. Kris Humphries' (knee) injury has left the door open for the second-year player and he continues to prove that he's deserving of the added playing time by responding with significant production.
Thu. Apr 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Bradley (Achilles) returned from a three-game absence Wednesday to put up 24 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals in 35 minutes.
Impact: Bradley has struggled to remain healthy throughout the season but tends to produce significant numbers when he's actually on the court. The Celtics' play the Bobcats on Friday and Bradley looks like he'll be available.
News: Bradley has been out for three games due to a right Achilles strain.
Impact: He was injured in Monday's loss to Chicago and is expected to return this season.
News: Humphries missed Saturday's game after injuring his right patella tendon in the loss to Philadelphia.
Impact: His status going forward is uncertain.
News: Bayless had 25 points Saturday in a loss to Detroit.
Impact: He's averaging 24.0 points in two games, but it hasn't helped the Celtics snap an eight-game losing streak.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | STATS
News: Rondo recorded his first triple-double of the season with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 16 assists in a loss to Philadelphia on Friday.
Impact: Rondo is averaging 11.5 points, 9.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds this season.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | STATS
News: Bayless finished with 23 points and hit five 3-pointers in an ugly loss to visiting Philadelphia on Friday.
Impact: Bayless bounced back from a two-point performance at Washington on Wednesday.
