News: Ellington (personal) is expected to be able to play Friday versus the Blazers, The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Ellington did not travel to Denver for Wednesday's game because of personal reasons, but he's anticipated to be back in Dallas to play Friday. The shooting guard occupies a small role off the Mavericks' bench, so he probably isn't fantasy relevant outside of the deepest leagues.
News: Marion scored 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting Wednesday. He added six rebounds in the loss to Denver.
Impact: Marion's performances have see-sawed a bit lately but he managed to scored in double figures in three of the last four games.
Bernard James - #5 - Forward-Center - 6'10" - 230lbs
News: James started the second half and played 10 minutes Wednesday in a loss to the Nuggets. He collected four rebounds and missed his lone shot attempt.
Impact: James replaced Samuel Dalembert after halftime and received his most minutes since mid-December. He may see a slight bump in playing time if Dalembert remains in Coach Rick Carlisle's doghouse but James is not worth fantasy consideration at this time.
News: Harris handed out a season-best 11 assists Wednesday. However he failed to score in the loss to Denver, missing all five of his attempts.
Impact: While the assists are nice, Harris is in the midst of a serious shooting slump and is now shooting 14.8 percent over Dallas' last five games.
News: Dalembert failed to score in 10 minutes of action Wednesday, missing all three of his shot attempts. He collected a lone rebound in the loss to the Nuggets.
Impact: Dalembert did not start the second half as Coach Rick Carlisle elected to play Bernard James. After a solid February in which he averaged 8.4 points and 7.9 rebounds, Dalembert has struggled in the first few games of March.
News: With teammate Wayne Ellington away from the team for personal reasons, Crowder joined the Dallas rotation. He played 16 minutes and scored eight points. He also collected four rebounds and a blocked shot.
Impact: Crowder took advantage of the extra playing team and produced a fairy efficient stat-line. However he did turn the ball over twice and will likely see his minutes reduced when Ellington does return.
News: Carter scored 17 points on 5-of-12 shooting Wednesday. He added one rebound and a steal in the loss to Denver.
Impact: Carter continues to play well and is now averaging 18.6 points on 48 percent shooting in Dallas' last five outings.
News: Calderon scored five points and handed out six assists in a loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday. He finished 2-of-5 from the field, including 1-of-4 from behind the arc.
Impact: Calderon struggled for the second straight game and turned the ball over a season-worst four times. He will look to bounce back Friday against Portland.
News: Blair failed to score in three minutes of action Wednesday. He collected one foul before exiting in the loss to the Nuggets.
Impact: Balir is in a serious slump right now and appears to have fallen behind Brandan Wright on the Dallas depth chart.
News: Wright scored 18 points (9-13 FG) with three rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 25 minutes off the bench Wednesday night.
Impact: It was Wright's highest scoring game since he scored 19 points twice during his first four games of the season. Wright is capable of scoring outbursts like this but he is too inconsistent to trust on a daily basis.
News: Ellis scored 16 points (7-13 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT) while adding four assists, one steal and one block in 39 minutes Wednesday night.
Impact: Ellis continues to be a reliable source for points. He is now averaging 19 points, 5.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game this season.
News: Nowitzki scored 27 points (13-20 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and pulled down seven boards in a loss to the Nuggets Wednesday night.
Impact: While it was a productive scoring night for Nowitzki, he had zero assits, zero blocks and zero steals. This is the second straight game without an assist or steal for Nowitzki but he still managed to lead the team in scoring again.
News: Ellington will miss Wednesday's game in Denver due to personal reasons, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Ellington has appeared in all seven of the Mavericks' post-break tilts, averaging 5.4 points (on 50 percent shooting), 1.1 rebounds, 1.1 three-pointers, and one assist in 12.4 minutes. His absence could open the door for rookie Shane Larkin to take the floor, but Ellington's workload may just be split among the backcourt's stalwarts. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said he does not expect Ellington to miss any time beyond Wednesday's game, but it's uncertain at this time.

News: Mekel (knee) will be assigned to the Texas Legends of the D-League.
Impact: Mekel underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus in January, and while he's been practicing with the team for more than two weeks, he's apparently still not ready for game action. He'll head to the D-League to try to round back into form, though he's only expected to stay there for two games.
News: One game after failing to score against the Bulls, Wright scored eight points on 4-of-6 shooting Sunday. He added six rebounds and two blocks in a loss to the Spurs.
Impact: Wright continues to produce an efficient stat-line when given minutes. However he has scored in double-digits just twice in the past 11 games.
News: Nowitzki scored 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting Sunday. He added seven rebounds in a loss to the Spurs.
Impact: Nowitzki led the Mavericks in scoring but failed to register an assist for the first time since January 15.
News: Marion scored five points on 2-of-7 shooting Sunday. He added four rebounds and three steals in the loss to the Spurs.
Impact: Marion has been a bit inconsistent lately but his Pre All-Star game and Post All-Star game stats are nearly identical. He is averaging 10.6 points and 6.8 rebounds for the year.
News: Harris scored eight points on 3-of-9 shooting Sunday in a loss to the Spurs. He added one rebound.
Impact: Harris has not scored in double-digits since February 11, a span of eight games. He shot 36.5 percent from the field for the month of February.
News: Ellis scored 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting Sunday in a loss to the Spurs. He added eight assists and three rebounds.
Impact: Ellis has scored in double-digits in 14 straight games and recorded at least one steal in 16 of the last 17 games.
News: Carter scored 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting Sunday in a loss to the Spurs. He added five assists and four rebounds.
Impact: Carter is playing extremely well right and deserves to be utilized in all formats. He is averaging 18.8 points over Dallas' last five games.
News: Calderon scored eight points on 4-of-11 shooting Sunday. He added six assists, three steals, and two rebounds in the loss to the Spurs.
Impact: Calderon failed to hit a three-pointer for the first time in 18 consecutive games. He missed his lone attempt from behind the arc.
News: Blair scored six points on 3-of-5 shooting Sunday in a loss to the Spurs. He added four rebounds and two assists.
Impact: Blair played 13 minutes of action but couldn't help Dallas secure a win against his former team.
News: Dalembert flirted with a double-double Sunday, but finished with eight points and 10 rebounds in 19 minutes.
Impact: Although Dalembert is a starter, he's usually not afforded significant time on the court. He provides a reliable source of rebounds in deeper leagues despite averaging just 20.1 minutes per game on the season.
News: Larkin was available to play Sunday after a brief stint in the D-League, but ultimately failed to see any action against the Spurs.
Impact: Larkin provides depth to the Mavericks' backcourt, but not much else. He's young and in his rookie season so there's obviously room to grow, although it appears that the majority of that growth will come during practice as apposed to game experience.
News: Mekel (knee) appeared to be a healthy DNP on Sunday when the Mavericks took on the Spurs.
Impact: Mekel hasn't appeared on the court since January 13 against Orlando. It's unlikely that he'll receive much playing time during the final stretch of the season, even though he's available to play off the bench.
News: Crowder was available to play in Sunday's game, but didn't see any time on the court.
Impact: Crowder had just been recalled from a stint in the D-League, but remained on the pine Sunday. He has seen his minutes decrease considerably over the last couple of weeks, so he's a player that should be avoided in most formats.
News: Crowder was recalled from the D-League by the Mavericks on Sunday, and is available to play against the Spurs, MavsOutsider.com reports.
Impact: When Crowder sees playing time, he can be useful in deeper leagues, but that hasn't been the case this season, and he shouldn't be expected to make a big enough impact to be of use in standard leagues.
News: Larkin was recalled from the D-League by the Mavericks on Sunday, and is available to play against the Spurs, MavsOutsider.com reports.
Impact: Larkin will offer backcourt depth for the Mavs, but is unlikely to see enough run to be of use in fantasy.
News: Ellis scored 20 points on 7-of-19 shooting Friday. He added five assists and three steals in a loss to the Bulls.
Impact: Ellis led the team in scoring, but he and the rest of the Dallas offense struggled against the tough Chicago defense.
News: Larkin was assigned to Texas of the D-League on Saturday, Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Impact: With Jose Calderon and Devin Harris chewing up the bulk of the playing time at point guard the last few games, Larkin has been a DNP-Coach's Decision in two of the last three contests and received a total of just seven minutes of court time over the past six contests combined. Heading over to the D-League for a little while will aid Larkin's development more than riding the pine with the parent club.
News: Crowder was assigned to Texas of the D-League on Saturday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Impact: Crowder has received a combined four minutes of playing time over the Mavs' past four games, so coach Rick Carlisle will look to get him some more meaningful action down in the D-League for a little bit. While Crowder could return to the team after the weekend, he'll probably still find himself on the outside looking in in Carlisle's rotation.
News: Nowitzki (shoulder) was able to play Friday, finishing with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block in 34 minutes of action.
Impact: Nowitzki's shoulder injury never seemed to be of much concern, and he proved so Friday. He's been a reliable fantasy option this season and should be deployed as usual when the Mavericks face the Spurs on Sunday.
News: Mekel (knee) will move down to the D-League and finish his rehab after his Jan. 17 surgery, the Star-Telegram reports.
Impact: If and when Mekel returns to the Mavericks, it's unlikely that he'll provide much value off the bench. He's had a disappointing rookie season thus far, and his sights are focused on getting healthy for the future.
Sat. Mar 1, 2014 | STATS
News: Ellis had 20 points in Friday's loss to the Bulls.
Impact: Ellis has scored 20-plus in three straight after averaging just 11.7 in his previous three.
Sat. Mar 1, 2014 | STATS
News: Nowitzki was held in check Friday, scoring 15 in Dallas' loss to the Bulls.

Fri. Feb 28, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nowitzki (shoulder) is in the starting lineup for Friday's game, the Mavs' official site reports.
Impact: Nowitzki irritated his left shoulder in the first quarter of the Mavs' last game on Wednesday. He played through the injury and downplayed it after Wednesday's game. It appears he's good to go, and if you own him in any leagues, it doesn't seem there's anything worth worrying too much about.
News: Calderon scored nine points on 3-of-7 shooting Wednesday. All three made attempts came from behind the arc.
Impact: Calderon added five assists and two rebounds and has now made a three-pointer in 17 straight games.
News: Wright scored eight points on 3-of-4 shooting Wednesday. He added a season-best eight rebounds in the win over New Orleans.
Impact: Wright added three blocks on the defensive end and played 23 minutes, the most of any center on the roster.
News: Nowitzki scored 18 points Wednesday on 7-of-13 shooting. He added five rebounds and three assists.
Impact: Nowitzki briefly left the game in the first quarter after irritating his left shoulder. However he returned to game and downplayed the severity of the issue after the game.
News: Marion scored 10 points and collected eight rebounds Wednesday in a win over the Pelicans. He added three assists and three steals.
Impact: While his scoring productivity has been inconsistent, Marion continues to lead Dallas in rebounds.
News: Larkin handed out one assist in two minutes of playing time Wednesday.
Impact: The rookie point guard has been bumped down the depth chart with Devin Harris healthy.
Bernard James - #5 - Forward-Center - 6'10" - 230lbs
News: James played two fourth quarter minutes Wednesday but failed to record a statistic.
Impact: James remains the fourth center on a loaded Dallas depth chart and will continue to see spot minutes.
News: Ellis scored 23 points on 8-of-18 shooting Wednesday. He added seven assists and four steals in the win over New Orleans.
Impact: Ellis has scored the ball well in Dallas' last two outings after coming out of the break in a mini-slump. He's also doing a good job distributing the ball, averaging 8.7 assists in the last three games.
News: Ellington played 22 minutes Wednesday, scoring 12 points in the win over New Orleans. He connected on four three pointers and added two rebounds and an assist.
Impact: Ellington has moved ahead of Jae Crowder in the Dallas rotation and will continue to see time while he's playing well.
News: Dalembert scored six points on 3-of-4 shooting Wednesday. He added one rebound and one block in the win over the Pelicans.
Impact: Dalembert was limited to just 21 minutes as Coach Rick Carlisle elected to play Brandan Wright for a majority of the second half.
News: Carter scored 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting Wednesday in a win over the Pelicans. He added two assists and two rebounds.
Impact: Carter is playing well over the last three games, averaging 19.3 points per game. He's been known to be a streaky player but he's worth a roster spot while he's on this current tear.
Wed. Feb 26, 2014 | STATS
News: Ellis led the way with 23 points in Wednesday's 108-89 win over New Orleans.
Impact: Dallas has won 11 in a row when Ellis scores at least 22 points.

Tue. Feb 25, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Blair took the court for just two minutes Monday in a win over New York. He finished with one point and one rebound.
Impact: Blair was the odd man out Monday as Samuel Dalembert and Brandan Wright played the majority of minutes at center.
Mon. Feb 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Calderon scored 20 points (6-9 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), while dishing six assists and grabbing five boards in 34 minutes Monday.
Impact: Calderon nailed five 3-pointers en route to his highest-scoring game in over two months. While he leaves a lot to be desired in the assists column, the veteran guard makes up for it with his impressive efficiency from behind the arc.
Mon. Feb 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Carter scored 23 points (8-17 FG, 7-12 3Pt) to go along with three rebounds, three assists, and a block in 26 minutes Monday.
Impact: Carter torched the Knicks from the perimeter, setting a season-high in points and 3-pointers made. His seven threes were the most he's had in a game in seven years. Carter is averaging 14.8 points and 5.6 rebounds over his last five games, and he's definitely worth a look in deeper leagues.
News: Mekel (knee) has been able to participate in practice, but has yet to make a return to the court.
Impact: Mekel was a small part of the Maverick's rotation at the beginning of the season, but it's hard to imagine that he'll have a similar role when he makes his comeback, because of the returns of Devin Harris and Shane Larkin. Harris provides valuable minutes off the bench and Larkin is progressing nicely as a rookie prospect. Mekel will likely be on the outside looking in, even when he gets back to full strength.
News: Nowitzki scored 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting Saturday. He added four rebounds and an assist in the win over Detroit.
Impact: Nowitzki hasn't let the All-Star break slow him down. In the three games following the break he is averaging 23.7 points on 56 percent shooting.
News: Marion was one of three Dallas players to finish with a double-double on Saturday. He finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Detroit.
Impact: Marion, Monta Ellis, and Samuel Dalembert all finished with double-doubles as the Mavs withstood a late Detroit rally. It was Marion's eighth double-double of the season.
News: Harris had a relatively quiet night Saturday, scoring six points and handing out three assists in a win over Detroit.
Impact: Harris is seeing a steady supply of minutes but is averaging just 8.7 points per game for the season.

Impact: Ellington appears to have earned a spot back in the Dallas rotation, replacing struggling forward Jae Crowder.
News: Dalembert played well against the imposing Detroit front-court, scoring 12 points to go with 11 rebounds. He added three blocks in the win.
Impact: Dalembert managed to stay out of foul trouble, playing 25 minutes. The double-double was his third of the season.
News: Crowder received a DNP-CD against the Pistons on Saturday.
Impact: Coach Rick Carlisle elected to play veteran guard Wayne Ellington over the struggling Crowder. Despite averaging 17.9 minutes a game, the second-year forward is averaging just 5.0 points per game.

Fri. Feb 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Blair provided 18 points (7-9 FG, 4-4 FT) in just 16 minutes in the win over the 76ers on Friday. He added four boards.
Impact: Blair has seen his playing time dwindle to make him a hard player to own in fantasy leagues. Doing damage against Philadelphia should not make him a hot waiver wire pickup.
Fri. Feb 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Marion had the hot hand with 11-of-14 from the field for 22 points in 31 minutes during the win over the 76ers on Friday. He missed his two 3-point attempts, but had seven boards, three assists, and two steals.
Impact: Philadelphia was just what Marion needed to see to break out of his slump. He scored just 17 combined points in his previous three games, but his production should return to spottiness against all non-76er opponents.
