News: Parsons said his back is "more sore than it's ever been" after undergoing another round of acupuncture treatment Saturday, the Houston Chronicle reports. "I'm just trying to do what I can to play," Parsons said. "I'm definitely not 100 percent."
Impact: While coach Kevin McHale sounded positive earlier on Saturday about Parsons' chances of taking the court for Sunday's game, Parsons certainly doesn't sound like a lock to take the court. Continue to monitor the situation, as this is something that could linger for a while.
News: Parsons got relief from back spasms in part with the help of an acupuncturist, the Houston Chronicle reports. "I was so glad to be out there and to be playing," Parsons said. "Obviously, I'm still a little rusty. I missed a lot of easy ones that usually I am going to make, but that's going to take some time with coming back. I'm definitely sore but it felt good to be back out there."
Impact: The treatment helped to reduce the pain in time for Friday's game, but even though Parsons played, it's unclear whether he's out of the woods.
News: Parsons (back) was sore after playing in Friday's game, but coach Kevin McHale sounded positive with regards to whether he'd be able to play through the pain, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: McHale said the postgame soreness was to be expected. The Rockets play again Sunday against the Magic, and while Parsons is questionable to play, it seems like things are pointing up.
News: Jones had 16 points and 10 rebounds in Friday's win over Golden State, his fifth double-double of the season.
Impact: After being most irrelevant during his rookie season, Jones has emerged as a surprising possible fantasy contributor and is at least worth a bench stash, particularly for owners who are thin at forward. He's averaging 12.5 points and 8.2 rebounds over his last 13 games.
News: Howard registered his 12th double-double with 22 points on only eight shots to go along with 18 rebounds in Friday's win over Golden State.
Impact: It marked Howard's second-consecutive game with 18 rebounds. He's again among the league's rebounding leaders with 12.6 per game.
News: Harden continued his recent tear with 34 points in Friday's win over Golden State.
Impact: Harden has scored 31-plus in three of his last four games. He was 13 of 22 Friday after, two nights after a miserable 3-for-17 shooting performance against Phoenix.
News: The Rockets will look to trade Asik between December 15 and December 19, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Asik has not seen nearly as much playing time with Dwight Howard now anchoring the team as he did last season, but a new venue could turn Asik's season around. If the Turkish center falls into the right situation, he could return to his double-double averages of last season. With a future trade appearing likely, Asik is worth stashing in the majority of leagues, mostly for his rebounding and defensive abilities.
News: Harden had a monster game Friday against the Warriors, posting 34 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block in 40 minutes of action.
Impact: Harden has been playing relatively well over his last few games after getting over lingering foot problems. He should continue to produce top-round fantasy value as long as he remains healthy.
News: Howard put up a monster line Friday against the Warriors, posting 22 points (5-8 FG, 12-20 FT), 18 rebounds, one assist, three steals, and one block in 356 minutes of action.
Impact: Howard has now put up 18 rebounds two games in a row, and he should continue to put up excellent big-man numbers across the board. The free-throw percentage is still a killer, however.
News: Parsons (back) returned to action Friday against the Warriors and went ice cold from the field, scoring just eight points on 3-for-13 shooting. He added four rebounds, five assists, and three steals in 34 minutes of action.
Impact: Despite shooting poorly, it was encouraging to see Parsons contribute in other categories in his return. While his back issues may be a lingering concern, he should still be owned in all leagues, as he can contribute in multiple categories even when his shot isn't falling.
News: Jones went off Friday against the Warriors, putting up 16 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, three steals, and three blocks in 31 minutes of action.
Impact: Jones had been rather inconsistent recently heading into Friday's game. With news that the Rockets are actively trying to trade Omer Asik within the next two weeks, Jones' value is solidified in the meantime as a starter. He should be considered a viable standard league option despite his lack of consistency.
News: Parsons (back) will play Friday against the Warriors.
Impact: Parsons missed two games due to tightness in his back and it appears he will be able to play Friday. He had been averaging 20.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 4.0 three-pointers made in his previous three games, and he could continue to play well despite his back limitations.
News: Parsons (back) participated in the morning shootaround and is a game-time decision for Friday's contest against the Warriors, the Rockets' official site reports.
Impact: Parsons is in danger of missing a third consecutive game, though his participation in the morning shootaround is a good sign. He remains day-to-day, with Francisco Garcia likely to start again in the event that Parsons isn't able to go.
Thu. Dec 5, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Brooks had 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting, including three 3-pointers, four rebounds, six assists and three steals in 33 minutes Wednesday.
Impact: With Jeremy Lin (knee) and Chandler Parsons (back) out, Brooks saw an increased role and made the most of it. Brooks has played well as a fill-in so far this year and is a good source of points and threes whenever he gets an opportunity.
Thu. Dec 5, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Lin (knee) shot baskets on Thursday for the first time since suffering a sprained knee, Rockets.com reports.
Impact: This is definitely a good start for Lin, but his work Thursday was limited to shooting, without any cutting or running. Lin will wait to see how is knee responds before pushing any further, as he is currently just one week in to his original two week timetable. Lin doesn't have a specific target return date yet, but will have his knee evaluated after the two weeks is up, and this will provide a better insight as far as his return to the court.
News: Asik sat out against Phoenix due to a bruised thigh.
Impact: It's unclear how much time Asik is expected to miss.
News: Harden scored 13 while going a miserable 3 of 17 from the field in Wednesday's loss to Phoenix.
Impact: The 17.6 field-goal percentage matched the third-lowest of Harden's career in games in which he's taken at least 15 shots. He had been 22 for 41 over his previous two games with 68 points.
News: Howard turned in his 11th double-double of the season with 15 points and 18 rebounds in Wednesday's loss to Phoenix.
Impact: Howard's 36.4 field-goal percentage was his second-lowest of the season as he was just 4 of 11 from the field. His eight offensive rebounds were a season high, however.
News: Harden struggled mightily Wednesday night, scoring 14 points (3-17 FG, 0-10 3Pt, 8-8 FT) against the Suns.
Impact: Harden was coming off consecutive 30-point games, but his 17.6 percent shooting from Wednesday night's contest was his worst performance from the field this season. A large part of that had to do with missing all 10 of his three-point attempts, but he avoided a complete disaster by connecting on all of his free throws. He'll look to bounce back against Golden State on Friday night.
News: Garcia started and scored eight points (3-9 FG, 2-7 3Pt) to go with five rebounds in 28 minutes against the Suns on Wednesday night.
Impact: Garcia filled Chandler Parsons' (back) spot in Houston's starting lineup and contributed a couple three-pointers to go with a handful of boards Wednesday night. Although he's probably only useful in some deeper leagues, Garcia's value is slightly higher with Parsons sidelined.
News: Parsons (back) is out for Wednesday's game against the Suns.
Impact: After experiencing tightness in his back during warmups Parsons will take a seat for the second straight game. Expect Francisco Garcia to get the start in his place.
News: Parsons (back) is unlikely to play Wednesday as he experienced tightness during warmups.
Impact: Parsons was initially listed as a game-time call as he continues to deal with back spasms. Parsons sat out Monday's loss to the Jazz, and if he does, indeed, sit Wednesday expect Francisco Garcia to again start in his place.
Greg Smith - #4 - Forward-Center - 6'10" - 250lbs
News: Smith (knee) participated in some on-court work Tuesday and could possibly return to practice Saturday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Smith sprained his right LCL back on Nov. 14. He shouldn't have much fantasy value once he returns unless an injury befalls Terrence Jones, Dwight Howard, or Omer Asik.
News: Asik (thigh contusion) will miss one week and will be reevaluated at that point.
Impact: Asik hasn't been much of a fantasy factor this year, as Dwight Howard's arrival reduced Asik's minutes to an average of just over 18 per game, but his absence could grant a boost to the minutes of Terrence Jones and Omri Casspi.
News: Parsons (back) participated in Wednesday's shootaround but is still experiencing back tightness and is a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Phoenix.
Impact: Parsons' back is improving, but it sounds like he's very much questionable for Wednesday still. The Rockets have good depth in the three and four spots with the likes of Francisco Garcia, Terrence Jones and Omri Casspi performing admirably, so they really don't need to rush Parsons.
News: Parsons (back) is day-to-day after missing Monday's game, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: If he can't go Wednesday against the Suns, Francisco Garcia will likely start in his place.
News: Howard had 15 points and nine boards in Monday's 109-103 loss to Utah.
Impact: Howard turned in another fantasy flop against one of the NBA's worst teams. This is six games in a row he has failed to score more than 15 and that speaks for itself, really.
News: Harden had 15 of his season-best 37 points in the fourth quarter in Monday's 109-103 loss to Utah.
Impact: Harden has 68 points in his last two games so he is rolling.
News: Parsons returned Friday after missing the last two games.
Impact: The Houston Rockets forward had been dealing with back spasms. He finished with eight points and five assists on 3-of-13 shooting in 34 minutes.
News: Jones saw just 18 minutes Monday (and scored only two points) because coach Kevin McHale thought Omri Casspi was playing better, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: We still expect Jones to see bigger minutes going forward, but it's worth noting that Casspi got the nod Monday night.
News: Harden scored 37 points (12-22 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 10-10 FT) to go along with eight assists and three rebounds in 43 minutes Monday.
Impact: Harden was on fire Monday, posting his sixth 30-point performance of the season and second straight. He seems to have shaken off any rust that remained from his foot injury. Harden is a top-tier fantasy player and a must-start in all formats.
News: Garcia will start at the three for the Rockets on Monday, the Rockets' official site reports.
Impact: Chandler Parsons (back) is out, giving Garcia the chance for more minutes, despite the fact that he was dealing with a toe injury.
News: Parsons (back) will not play Monday, the Rockets' official site reports.
Impact: Francisco Garcia will get the start in Parsons' place. Parsons isn't expected to be out for long, but his owners will want to get him out of the lineup Monday, with Wednesday's game against the Suns still a possibility.
News: Garcia (toe) sat out shootaround but is expected to play Monday against the Jazz, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Garcia missed shootaround due to a sprained toe, which apparently has been bothering him for quite some time. Chandler Parsons (back) is considered a game-time decision and if he is unable to play, Garcia could play a big factor in Monday's game.
News: Parsons (back) will be a game-time decision for Monday's tilt against the Jazz, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Parsons is suffering from back spasms, which occurred late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game. If he is unable to play Monday, look for Francisco Garcia and Omri Casspi to fill the void.
Dec 1, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Rockets coach Kevin McHale said Parsons' back was "really bothering him" during Saturday's win over the Spurs.
Impact: You wouldn't believe it just looking at the stat sheet, as Parsons recorded 25 points, while shooting 4-of-8 from three-point land, with three boards and five assists in 40 minutes, but he apparently tweaked the back late in the game. He dealt with back issues on and off throughout November, but considering he was able to play through them Saturday, it seems likely he'll tough it out Monday, unless his back flares up again before gametime.
News: Brooks scored three points on 1-of-8 shooting in 16 minutes Saturday.
Impact: Brooks had seen more time with James Harden out, but with Harden back, Brooks' role was reduced Saturday, even with Jeremy Lin out. Still, as long as Lin is out, there's a chance Brooks could see more minutes.
News: Jones had 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting, including a 3-pointer, 16 rebounds and a steal in 31 minutes Saturday.
Impact: Jones is locked in as the team's starting power forward, and his versatile skill set should make him a valuable contributor for the foreseeable future.
News: Brewer did not play in Saturday's loss to Spurs due to a coach's decision.
Impact: Brewer (Calf) has struggled since returning to the Rockets' lineup on Wednesday versus the Hawks. It could be that the injury is still having some lingering effects which is affecting his ability to move on the court. Coach Kevin Mchale's decision to have Brewer sit Saturday's game is warranted after Brewer played 14 minutes on Friday and practically did nothing for the team. When Brewer is completely healthy, he may be of some value, however he still may have to shake off the rust, having only played 32 minutes this season.
News: Parsons scored 23 points (8-19 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT) with three rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals in 39 minutes in Saturday's win over the Spurs.
Impact: Parsons has had two great shooting performances back-to-back.
News: Harden scored 29 points (10-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 8-13 FT) with five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 37 minutes in Saturday's win over the Spurs.
Impact: After a rusty game on Friday against the Nets, Harden found his stride on both ends of the court on Saturday against the Spurs. Harden seems to be over his foot injury.
News: Brooks had 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including three 3-pointers, one rebound, seven assists and a steal in 28 minutes Friday.
Impact: Brooks was seeing extra minutes with James Harden out, and now that's Harden's back, Brooks should see minutes with Jeremy Lin out. Brooks should be a decent source of points and threes in the short term.
News: Harden (foot) was limited in action Friday against the Nets, posting just nine points and seven assists in 26 minutes.
Impact: The game was a blowout, so none of the Houston starters played much, something that bodes well for Harden as he was able to ease his way back from a foot injury.
News: Howard struggled mightily against the Nets, posting just 12 points and seven rebounds with no blocks in 17 minutes of action Friday.
Impact: On the bright side, Howard posted a 2-for-2 performance from the free-throw line, which owners can take refuge in on a bad night like this. Howard is averaging just 12.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per game over his last three contests. It appears he is on a slump.
News: Parsons went perfect from the field Friday against the Nets, scoring 21 points on 7-for-7 shooting. He added six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and six three-pointers in 27 minutes of action.
Impact: Parsons has been excellent this season with averages of 16.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.3 three-pointers made per game.
Fri. Nov 29, 2013 | STATS
News: Lin is out with a knee sprain.
Impact: The injury seems to be serious enough for the guard to be out for at least two weeks. Continue to monitor the developments, as this may become a recurring issue.
News: Harden (foot) will play Friday against the Nets.
Impact: This comes to great news to owners, as Harden has been playing well this season. Hopefully he will be able to move on from his lingering foot issues.
Greg Smith - #4 - Forward-Center - 6'10" - 250lbs
News: Smith (knee) will be out for at least a couple more days, Fox26 reports.
Impact: Smith has been sidelined with a sprained knee since November 14. He had hoped to return Friday but will remain out for the weekend. Smith could return Monday or Wednesday.
News: Harden (foot) is a game-time decision for Friday's game against the Nets, the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen reports. He participated in the morning shootaround for the first time since he has been out.
Impact: Harden has missed three straight games with the injury, but it looks like there's a decent chance he'll be out there against Brooklyn. The Rockets could really use him, especially with the recent news that Jeremy Lin will miss at least two weeks with a knee sprain.
News: With Jeremy Lin out at least two weeks with a knee sprain, Brooks could see a significant increase in playing time.
Impact: We don't know for sure how the Rockets' will handle Lin's absence, but Brooks - who is averaging just 12.0 minutes per game - seems like the most obvious beneficiary. He racked up 21 points in 27 minutes once Lin went down with the injury Wednesday night, and he's clearly capable of putting up significant fantasy lines when given the opportunity. Patrick Beverley could benefit as well, but he is already averaging 30.5 minutes per game, so his uptick won't be as drastic. Brooks makes for an appealing add in many formats.
Patrick Beverley - #2 - Guard - 6'1" - 185lbs
News: With Jeremy Lin (knee) out for two weeks, Beverley could see an increase in opportunities.
Impact: Lin's 30.1 minutes per game will have to go somewhere, and Beverley and Aaron Brooks appear to be the most likely beneficiaries. Beverley's increase in playing time probably won't be as drastic since he was already playing nearly 31 minutes a night, but his scoring and assist numbers could get a boost.
News: Lin has a Grade 1 knee sprain and will be out for at least two weeks, the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen reports.
Impact: Lin suffered what was originally believed to be a simple bruise in Wednesday's game, but further evaluation revealed the sprain. A two-week absence means he will miss at least eight games, and the Rockets say he'll be re-evaluated after two weeks, so he could potentially miss even more time beyond that. Patrick Beverley's value will likely get a boost, though Aaron Brooks may be the player who benefits most from this injury. He could get a significant uptick in playing time from his current 12.0 minutes per game.
Thu. Nov 28, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Although Harden (foot) missed his third straight game Wednesday, he doesn't think the injury will be a long-term issue and has been encouraged by his progress during workouts, the Houston Chronicle reports. "It feels real good," Harden said. "Obviously, I had some time to rest it and get a lot of treatment. It's feeling a lot better. The swelling has gone down a lot."
Impact: It's unclear whether Harden will return Friday, but it sounds like he'll be back before too long.
News: Howard only had 11 points and four boards in the Rockets' third straight win, 113-84 over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
Impact: The Rockets have numerous players who have higher plus-minus ratings than Howard and his minutes have been going down a bit. Fantasy owners should monitor the situation since the Rockets are one of the top analytical teams in the NBA thanks to general manager Daryl Morey - who won't be afraid to sit D12 if he is not helping the team effort.
News: Garcia scored 21 points to help the Rockets cruise to their third straight win, 113-84 over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
Impact: Garcia's 21 points were a season-high and only the fourth time he scored in double digits.
News: Brooks scored 21 points to help the Rockets cruise to their third straight win, 113-84 over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
Impact: Brooks has been great in two of the three games with James Harden out, scoring 26 points in the first before adding 21 on Wednesday. You should use Brooks when Harden is out.
News: Garcia scored a season-high 21 points (9-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt) and dished out three assists during 33 minutes against Atlanta on Wednesday night.
Impact: With James Harden (foot) out and Jeremy Lin (knee) suffering an injury in the first quarter, the Rockets needed some scoring. While Garcia's logged enough minutes this year, it was the first time he's scored double-digits in his last 11 games. At least we know he can still find the hoop if need be, but with Harden due back in the lineup soon, it's hard to see him getting 30-plus minutes again anytime soon.
News: Brooks had 21 points (7-12 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT) to go along with four assists and two steals during 27 minutes of action against Atlanta.
Impact: Brooks had another big game Wednesday, taking over for Jeremy Lin (knee) who was injured in the first quarter. With Houston also missing James Harden (foot), the Rockets needed some backcourt scoring and Brooks obliged, going over 20 points for the second time in three games. When he's healthy, he's lethal off the bench. And with Houston's banged-up backcourt, he's probably worth a look.
News: Lin (knee) will not return to Wednesday's game, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: He sustained the knee bruise in the first quarter and should be considered questionable for Friday's tilt.
News: Lin sustained a bruised right knee in the first quarter of Wednesday's game and will be re-evaluated at halftime, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: It's possible that he could return, so that bodes well for his chances of playing Friday, but he should still be considered day-to-day.
News: Lin limped off the court in the first quarter Wednesday and headed to the locker room, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Francisco Garcia replaced Lin, although it's not evident yet what caused the injury. Consider him questionable to return.
News: Harden (foot) will not play Wednesday, NBA.com reports.
Impact: Jeremy Lin should get another start at shooting guard as Harden misses his third straight game. Consider him questionable for Friday's game against the Nets.
News: Brewer (calf) will make his return to the court Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: He missed four games with the injury and with James Harden (foot) doubtful for Wednesday's tilt, it's possible Brewer will see some solid run. However, he doesn't really offer too much from a fantasy standpoint and should only be looked at in deeper leagues.
News: Harden (foot) is unlikely to play Wednesday, according to the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen, who said he would be "very surprised" if Harden played against the Hawks.
Impact: News on whether Harden will play isn't expected until close to the 8 p.m. ET tipoff, but Feigen is one of the better NBA beat writers, so his opinion is valid here. Harden's owners should consider making other plans for Wednesday's slate of games.
News: Brooks, who suffered a thigh bruise in Monday's win over Memphis, said he was feeling fine and would be available for Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Brooks could see some run if James Harden (foot) can't return. If Harden returns Brooks is unlikely to see significant minutes.
News: Garcia (toe) will play against Philadelphia on Wednesday, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Whether Garcia sees much playing time probably depends on the status of James Harden, who is questionable with a foot issue.
News: Although Harden remains a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, his foot injury is "much improved," the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: According to the Chronicle, Harden sounded "greatly relieved." Even if he sits against Atlanta on Wednesday, it sounds like Harden shouldn't miss time beyond that.
News: Brewer (calf) remains questionable for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: James Harden would eat up most of Brewer's minutes if he should suit up Wednesday, but it's not clear whether Houston's star is able to play through his foot injury yet.
News: Brewer (calf) may suit up Wednesday against the Hawks, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: After testing out his strained left calf during drills Tuesday, Brewer's progress seems to have made a positive impression on coach Kevin McHale, who thinks the guard will be ready to return Wednesday. Because James Harden (foot) seems iffy to join him in uniform, Brewer could earn decent run behind Jeremy Lin at two-guard.
News: Brewer, who missed Monday's win at Memphis, will test out his left calf strain Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle reports. "They want me to get a full practice, but I went through [Monday's] shootaround, felt pretty good, no problems," he said. "I'm going to practice [Tuesday] and play the next one."
Impact: Judging by his statement, Brewer intends to take the court Wednesday versus the Hawks, which is logical since he's recently ramped up his workouts. If James Harden were held out yet again due to his sore foot, Brewer could immediately be a factor in the guard rotation behind Jeremy Lin.
News: Harden (foot) is questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Hawks, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Harden's sore foot is slowly but surely improving, but the questionable status for games remains, as the Rockets may best be served by holding him out until the pain has nearly subsided. In any case, Jeremy Lin will continue to hold down the fort at shooting guard until Harden is healthy enough to suit up.
News: Parsons was draining Monday, scoring 17 points (8-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt) to go along with three rebounds and an assist in 37 minutes.
Impact: Parsons may be struggling from the perimeter this season but has found other ways to put the ball in the basket. He has been a monster over the past five games, averaging 16.6 points on 61.1 percent shooting. He's also added five assists and 4.2 rebounds per outing over that stretch.
News: Asik had two points and 10 rebounds in 21 minutes Monday.
Impact: With James Harden (foot) out, the Rockets got more players involved. Asik doesn't have much value on the Rockets unless Dwight Howard gets hurt, but there's a decent chance he's traded to a team where he can log heavy minutes. If that happens, he's good for a double-double and a block per game.
Omri Casspi - #18 - Small Forward - 6'9" - 225lbs
News: Casspi gave the Rockets a lift off the bench with 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including two 3-pointers, three rebounds and a steal in 23 minutes Monday.
Impact: With James Harden (foot) out, the Rockets expanded their usual rotation, and Casspi benefited. Casspi's not going to produce regularly, but when he plays, he'll be a decent source of threes.
News: Brooks bruised his thigh in Monday's game and did not return, the Rockets' official site reports.
Impact: Brooks was coming off a 26-point outing Saturday, and it's not certain how long he will be out now. If he misses time, Patrick Beverley and Jeremy Lin will see even more minutes, especially if James Harden (foot) remains out or limited.
News: Harden (foot) will officially not play Monday, the Rockets' official site reports.
Impact: This was expected, and we can only hope that Harden will be able to return for Wednesday's game against the Hawks. Jeremy Lin will start at the two in his place Monday against the Grizzlies.
News: Brewer will likely sit out Monday's contest against the Grizzlies, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Brewer has missed the past three contests due to a sprained calf. Look for him to eye a return on Wednesday against the Hawks.
Nov 24, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Harden (foot) is not expected to play Monday against the Grizzlies.
Impact: The plan is for Harden to sit out a second straight game Monday to rest his sore foot, but the team will re-evaluate his pain levels prior to tipoff. Jeremy Lin figures to make another start, and while Harden can't be considered a lock to return Wednesday, that will likely be his goal.
Nov 24, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Harden (foot) is questionable for Monday's game, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact: Harden's foot had bothered him for more than a week, and he's already missed two games during that span because of it.
Sun. Nov 24, 2013 | STATS
News: Brooks scored a team-high 26 points off the bench in Saturday's win over Minnesota.
Impact: He hit 10 of 14 shots after scoring four points in his last five games.
News: Brooks had 26 points (10-14 FG, 6-7 3PT) with four rebounds and five assists in 25 minutes off the bench in Saturday's game against the Timberwolves.
Impact: Brooks' six three-pointers went a long ways in accounting for his 26 points. This was a surprising night for Brooks who is averaging just under three points per game this season. His increase in playing time attributed to Patrick Beverley and Jeremy Lin filling in for James Harden's absence. Don't expect this kind of performance every night from Brooks.
News: Lin scored 19 points (5-11 FG, 2-5 3PT, 7-8 FT) with five assists and four rebounds in 34 minutes on Saturday against the Timberwolves.
Impact: Lin, who was starting due to James Harden's injury, had a nice fantasy night. He was productive from the free throw line and had solid numbers in the assist and rebound categories. Lin will start the Rockets' next game if Harden can't return on Monday.
Patrick Beverley - #2 - Guard - 6'1" - 185lbs
News: Beverley had 17 points (6-12 FG, 5-8 3PT) three assists and two rebounds in 33 minutes of action Saturday against the Timberwolves.
Impact: What stood out were his five three-pointers on eight attempts. Only recording three assists can probably be attributed to point guard Jeremy Lin starting in the backcourt alongside Beverley.
News: Parsons had 14 points (6-14 FG, 1-4 3PT, 1-2 FT) with six rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes on Saturday against the Timberwolves.
Impact: Parsons didn't do anything too special on Saturday but did lead the Rockets in minutes. Expect his minutes to continue as he is locked in as the starting small forward for the Rockets.
News: Jones had 18 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 3PT, 2-2 FT) with 10 rebounds in 32 minutes Saturday night against the Timberwolves.
Impact: Jones continues to excel in the starting power forward role for the Rockets. In his last seven games he is averaging just over 16 points per game and is pulling in rebounds as well. In this seven game stretch he has failed to record at least eight rebounds just once.
News: Howard had 11 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 FT) to go along with 13 rebounds in 34 minutes of action Saturday night against the Timberwolves.
Impact: Howard had one of his lower point totals of the season, but still managed to record a double-double in Saturday's game. His four assists and four blocks gave him a relatively productive stat line, despite the lack of points.
Sat. Nov 23, 2013 | STATS
News: Harden returned Friday and had a season-low nine points.
Impact: Harden missed the previous three games with a sore left foot.
News: Lin will start Saturday against the Timberwolves with James Harden (foot) out.
Impact: Lin makes for a nice fantasy play with Harden out for the next two games. He should get to command the ball and make all types of plays on the offensive end.
News: Harden (foot) will likely miss the next two games, ESPN.com reports. He will be evaluated further after resting.
Impact: Harden played 43 minutes on Wednesday in the loss to the Mavericks. He had been logging heavy minutes and his foot injury may have caused some of his defensive issues. Look for Jeremy Lin to get more opportunities with Harden out.
