GETTING INSIDE The Miami Heat didn't need three superstars to beat the Pacers. All they needed were two.
The Pacers had their season end -- 105-93 -- because they didn't have an answer for Miami forward LeBron James and guard Dwyane Wade the entire series. The Heat's two All Stars combined for 69 points to lead their team. The Heat won the series 4-2. The Pacers didn't help themselves by turning the ball over 22 times, which the Heat turned into 26 points on the other end of the court. "They're too good. They capitalize on your mistakes," Pacers forward David West said. "We were too loose with the ball. They pressure you all over the place." The Pacers don't have anything to hold their heads down about. They had their best season since 2004 and have a bright future with players like center Roy Hibbert, guard Paul George and West on the roster "We just didn't have enough yet," coach Frank Vogel said, "but we'll be back. |

NOTES, QUOTES --The Pacers got solid production out of their bench all season. The second unit struggled all series against Miami, and that's why it's probably fitting that they didn't show up in Game 6. G Darren Collison was the only bench player to play more than nine minutes. He had five points in 17 minutes off the bench.
--The Pacers' bench -- Darren Collison, Tyler Hansbrough, Leandro Barbosa, Dahntay Jones and Louis Amundson -- combined for 13 points on 2-of-9 shooting from the field and 8-of-9 shooting from the free-throw line. QUOTE TO NOTE: "Ever since Game 3, (the Heat have) played at such a high level. I don't know if anybody can beat them." -- Coach Frank Vogel, on Miami's LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. |
