Larry Sanders - #8 - Forward-Center - 6'11" - 235lbs
Thu. Dec 5, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Police have ticketed Sanders (thumb) for disorderly conduct and assault and battery in connection with a Nov. 3 altercation at a Milwaukee nightclub, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. However, the charges are municipal citations, and there are still no plans to issue criminal charges against Sanders.
Impact: Sanders will likely avoid any additional punishment from the NBA, but the thumb injury that has kept him out of the lineup for several weeks was a direct result of Sanders' involvement in the altercation. The initial timetable of four to six weeks would put Sanders on track for a return before Christmas, but coach Larry Drew would not provide any specifics when asked for an update Wednesday.
Thu. Dec 5, 2013 | STATS
News: Ilyasova had 22 points and 10 rebounds off the bench in Wednesday's 105-98 loss to Detroit.
Impact: Ilyasova entered the game averaging just 8.1 points. He'll hopefully be able to build on Wednesday's performance going forward.
Thu. Dec 5, 2013 | STATS
News: Butler was held out again Wednesday due to a sore left knee.
Impact: It's unclear how much time Butler is expected to miss.
News: Ilyasova (hamstring) played 37 minutes Wednesday and scored 22 points (8-19 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT) to go with 10 rebounds versus Detroit.
Impact: Ilyasova was expected to play limited minutes, as he eases back from a hamstring issue, but after both Zaza Pachulia (foot) and Epke Udoh (ankle) went down with injuries, the Turk was forced to play nearly 40 minutes Wednesday night. In doing so, Ilyasova posted a double-double and showed little signs of being restricted, which bodes well for a potential return to the starting lineup.
News: Henson scored 12 points (5-14 FG, 2-2 FT) to go with nine rebounds, three blocks, and two steals Wednesday night as Milwaukee fell to Detroit.
Impact: Henson's stat line isn't far off his season averages, but it's worth noting that both teammates Zaza Pachulia and Ekpe Udoh left Wednesday night's contest due to respective foot and ankle injuries. If either player is forced to miss time, Henson could see added minutes along the Bucks' frontcourt, potentially boosting his fantasy stock.
News: Udoh left Wednesday's game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury and did not return, FOXSportsWisconsin.com reports.
Impact: Though the severity of the injury isn't known, it comes as a disappointing development for Udoh, who had just reentered the starting lineup Saturday. If not for the injury, he likely would have approached 30 minutes for the third straight game. In any case, Udoh still helped out the few owners relying on him before he departed, blocking six shots in his 22 minutes of court time.
Zaza Pachulia - #27 - Center - 6'11" - 240lbs
News: Pachulia sprained his right foot in Wednesday's loss to the Pistons, Andrew Gruman of FOXSportsWisconsin.com reports.
Impact: Pachulia saw just six minutes of action, before missing the entire second half with the injury. The big man's minutes were trending downward to begin with, after coach Larry Drew dropped him from the starting lineup in favor of John Henson, and the injury certainly won't help Pachulia's odds of regaining a regular spot in the team's rotation.
News: Ilyasova will not be on a minutes limit for Wednesday's game against Detroit.
Impact: Ilyasova returned to action Tuesday after missing Saturday's game with ankle and hamstring issues. He played 21 minutes off the bench but all signs point to his playing time increasing as he continues to recover. He'll again come off the bench Wednesday as Larry Drew will stick with the starting lineup of Brandon Knight, O.J. Mayo, Khris Middleton, Ekpe Udoh and John Henson.
News: Ilyasova (hamstring) had seven points (3-5 FG, 1-1 FT) to go with seven boards in 21 minutes off the bench Tuesday against the Celtics.
Impact: It was his first game back after missing one and a half games with a sore hamstring, and as expected, he played limited minutes. It will be difficult to start him until he is int he starting lineup and seeing close to 30 minutes per night.
News: Butler (knee) remains out for Tuesday's game against the Celtics, NBA.com reports.
Impact: Khris Middleton will remain the starter at small forward and Butler should be considered day-to-day.
News: Ilyasova (hamstring) will be able to come off the bench Tuesday against the Celtics, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact: Ilyasova will make a return to the court, but in coming off the bench he may have his minutes somewhat limited. If he is able to play comfortably Tuesday, he will likely return to his typical role at forward quickly for the Bucks.
Mon. Dec 2, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Ilyasova (hamstring) practiced Monday but is considered questionable for Tuesday's contest against the Celtics, FOX Sports Wisconsin reports.
Impact: Ilyasova is battling a slew of injuries (ankle, hamstring, thumb) and was forced to sit out Saturday's game. If he is unable to play Tuesday, look for both John Henson and Ekpe Udoh to see increased minutes once again.
Nate Wolters - #6 - Point Guard - 6'4" - 190lbs
Mon. Dec 2, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Wolters scored six points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT) to go with two rebounds, two assists and one steal Friday against the Bobcats.
Impact: Despite seeing 20 minutes of action Friday, Wolters sat out Saturday against the Celtics due to a coach's decision. Even if Wolters does see minutes, his production has significantly declined since the beginning of the season, giving him little value in most fantasy formats.
News: Udoh played 39 minutes in a spot start Saturday with Ersan Ilyasova (hamstring) out and Zaza Pachulia moving to the bench. He put up nine points, 10 rebounds, an assist and two blocks.
Impact: Udoh is unlikely to get huge minutes like this on a nightly basis anytime soon, so it's hard to suggest adding him in anything but the deepest of leagues for short-term value. He also sat out part of last Tuesday's practice with knee soreness, so Udoh has health issues of his own that could limit him in the future.
Giannis Antetokounmpo - #34 - Guard-Forward - 6'9" - 210lbs
News: Antetokounmpo was given some extra run off the bench Saturday with Ersan Ilyasova (hamstring) and Caron Butler (knee) out. He put up 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists, a block and two three-pointers in 28 minutes.
Impact: Antetokounmpo's minutes are going to fluctuate a lot this season based on the health of the Bucks lineup unless coach Larry Drew bucks convention and decides to lean on the rookie earlier than he had planned. Due to the uncertainty of his role going forward, it's hard to recommend Antetokounmpo in anything but the deepest of leagues for the long term.
News: Knight appears to be over his hamstring issue or at least fighting through it. He put up a near triple-double Saturday, scoring 20 points to go with nine rebounds, eight assists, a steal, a block and three three-pointers in just 31 minutes.
Impact: Knight is a must-own player in pretty much all standard 10 and 12-team leagues right now. You have to take a flier on him if he's available in any leagues as Knight is the Bucks' future at point guard, and they're willing to let him develop.
Zaza Pachulia - #27 - Center - 6'11" - 240lbs
News: Pachulia was moved to a bench role Saturday with John Henson and Ekpe Udoh moving into the starting lineup and Ersan Ilyasova (hamstring) out.
Impact: Pachulia has struggled to be revelant most nights even when starting, so a move to the bench isn't good for his value. He's only ownable in the deepest of leagues.
News: Henson started in the frontcourt Saturday with Zaza Pachulia moving to a bench role. He put up 13 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 34 minutes.
Impact: Henson could run with the starting gig while Larry Sanders (thumb) and Ersan Ilyasova (hamstring) sidelined, but it's unknown if the Bucks would consider starting Henson when everyone is healthy, which limits his long-term value.
News: Butler (Knee) is out for Saturday's game against the Celtics.
Impact: Butler will sit with a swollen knee for the second day in a row, after coming off the bench for non-health-related reasons earlier in the week. Starting small forward Kris Middleton could see some added playing time Saturday, as could Giannis Antetokoumpo.
News: Ilyasova (hamstring) is out for Saturday's game against the Celtics.
Impact: Ilyasova was forced out of Friday's game and wasn't able to return. In his absence, the Bucks will go with a starting frontcourt of John Henson and Ekpe Udoh, with Zaza Pachulia and Miroslav Raduljica potentially in line for added playing time off the bench.
News: Henson put up seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and six blocks in 24 minutes of action Friday against the Bobcats.
Impact: Henson could see his value increase if Ersan Ilyasova (hamstring) misses time. He is averaging 10.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks per game this season, and those numbers could go up with increased minutes.
Gary Neal - #12 - Guard - 6'4" - 210lbs
News: Neal put up 10 points, one rebound, one assist, and one steal in 20 minutes of action Friday against the Bobcats.
Impact: Neal had solid value early in the season, but with Brandon Knight back in the lineup, Neal should only be an option in deep leagues.
News: Mayo scored just five points on 2-for-11 shooting from the field Friday against the Bobcats. He added four rebounds in 31 minutes of action.
Impact: Mayo just can't catch a break, as he has failed to hit double-digits in scoring five times over his last six games. While Mayo owners are going to have a very tough time accepting these games from him, there is still hope that Mayo will get out of this slump in a huge way. He has always been the type of player to have long hot and cold streaks. If there is a chance to buy him low via a trade, now would be a great time to target him.
News: Knight put up 17 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 30 minutes of action Friday against the Bobcats.
Impact: This marks Knight's best performance this season after struggling with a hamstring injury. His fantasy value is likely to only get better from here on out, so if he was dropped in your league, perhaps picking him up would be a good idea.
News: Ilyasova experienced a sore hamstring Friday against the Bobcats, Bucks.com reports. He is doubtful to return.
Impact: Ilyasova hasn't been playing well this season, but part of it is due to the Bucks' struggles. It is unclear how long he will have to sit out, but the injury doesn't appear to be serious at the moment.
News: Butler has a swollen knee and will not play Friday.
Impact: Butler's injury doesn't appear too serious, but he could miss a game or two. This comes as a blow for owners, as Butler has been producing 12-man league value.
News: Knight (hamstring) took part in morning shootaround and is in the starting lineup Friday in Charlotte, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact: Knight was removed from Wednesday's contest due to a tight right hamstring, which held him out of overtime. In three outings since a five-game absence, his playing time has oscillated, which is reflected in his averages - six points (on 18.5 percent shooting), 5.3 assists, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.7 three-pointers in 25.7 minutes.
Wed. Nov 27, 2013 | STATS
News: Mayo bounced back from some low-scoring games to post 21 in Wednesday's loss to Washington, though he was 9 of 23 from the floor.
Impact: Mayo appears to be caught in quite the shooting slump, hitting only 34.2 percent of his shots over the last six games.
News: Knight did not play in overtime Wednesday against the Wizards because he aggravated his right hamstring injury in the second half, Andrew Gruman of FOXSportsWisconsin.com reports.
Impact: Coach Larry Drew said he decided not to push his luck with Knight, which indicates that the point guard probably could have continued playing if the Bucks wanted to risk it. This doesn't seem like a serious setback, but given Knight's health woes this season, any injury-related news is potentially significant. The Bucks are off Thursday before a game against Charlotte on Friday.
News: Knight struggled again Wednesday, scoring just seven points (2-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) to go along with five assists and four rebounds Wednesday against Washington.
Impact: Although he's dealt with injuries on-and-off this year, Knight still hasn't scored more than eight points in a game this year despite getting a decent amount of looks. He's shooting just 25 percent from the floor, and although that will change at some point, he hasn't been the player Milwaukee expected.
News: Mayo had 21 points (9-23 FG, 3-7 3Pt) to go along with seven rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes against Washington on Wednesday.
Impact: He wasn't efficient, but his late three-pointer sent the game to overtime. It was the first time he cracked double-digits in points in five games, but he should be more of a play for the Bucks going forward, even despite his recent shooting struggles.
News: Butler will come off the bench again Wednesday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact: He finished with a team-high 27 minutes in his previous game as a reserve, but the Bucks tend to spread the minutes out to the point that it's difficult to trust any of the team's players in standard leagues.
News: Middleton will start again Wednesday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact: Coach Larry Drew seems to be Middleton's biggest fan, and he will once again start at small forward while Caron Butler will come off the bench. The Bucks are a pretty dangerous team to use in daily leagues, as blowouts are a frequent occurrence and Drew tends to spread minutes evenly between the starters and the bench in those situations.
Nate Wolters - #6 - Point Guard - 6'4" - 190lbs
Tue. Nov 26, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Wolters left practice early Tuesday, after falling ill, FOX Sports Wisconsin reports.
Impact: Since returning to a bench gig four games ago behind Luke Ridnour, then Brandon Knight, Wolters is recording 5.3 points (on 55.5 percent shooting), 3.3 assists, and one rebound in 15.5 minutes per contest. Wolters will likely be a game-time decision Wednesday against the Wizards, which would hand over minutes to Ridnour and Gary Neal.
Tue. Nov 26, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Udoh left Tuesday's practice early due to discomfort in his right knee, FOX Sports Wisconsin reports.
Impact: Coach Larry Drew's inability to stick to a definite starting five has left Udoh with a continually changing workload, which has seemed to steady in the last four games. During that span, Udoh averaged 3.5 points (on 50 percent shooting), 3.5 boards, and 0.8 blocks in 18.3 minutes. No matter the less than desirable production, consider him a game-time call Wednesday versus the Wizards.
News: Knight struggled Monday against the Pistons, as he scored eight points (2-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-6 FT) to go along with six turnovers and four assists.
Impact: Knight has struggled with injuries for much of the season, but when he has been able to play, he has played poorly, accounting for 18 assists versus 16 turnovers. He'll need to cut down on his turnovers quickly, if he's going to stay in the starting lineup.
News: Henson scored 15 points (7-12 FG, 1-2 FT) to go along with seven rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist Monday against the Pistons.
Impact: Henson has put together a solid season so far, as he is averaging 10.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks, while shooting 54.5 percent from the field. He may not be a flashy name but can still provide owners with solid value.
News: Knight will get the start Monday, Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.
Impact: This will be just his second start of the season, and first since Oct. 30. He saw 26 minutes off the bench in his previous outing, and should see close to 30 minutes once again as the starter. Knight will take Luke Ridnour's place as the starting point guard for Milwaukee.
News: Butler will come off the bench Monday, Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.
Impact: Khris Middleton will get the start at the three against the Pistons, as coach Larry Drew wants more scoring potential off the bench. It's not clear if this will mean fewer minutes for Butler, and it's possible the role could even help his fantasy stock as the go-to scoring option with the second unit.
News: Middleton will get the start at small forward Monday against the Pistons, Fox Sports Wisconsin reports.
Impact: Caron Butler will come off the bench in a move that could theoretically become permanent, as coach Larry Drew seems keen on getting more scoring production off the bench. Middleton has career per-36 minute averages of 13.2 points and 4.2 rebounds and is far from an appealing fantasy option in standard leagues, even as a starter.
Nov 24, 2013 | RotoWire
News: Knight (hamstring) came off the bench and played 26 minutes Saturday. He scored three points on 1-of-8 shooting, including 1-of-4 from beyond the arc. Knight added seven assists and one rebound to go along with four turnovers.
Impact: Knight missed the previous five games and is slowly working towards a starting role. The Bucks have been decimated with injuries this season and desperately need a distributor like Knight back in the lineup.
News: Butler scored just five points (2-8 FG) in Saturday's loss to the Bobcats.
Impact: One night after putting up 38 points in an OT loss to Philadelphia, Butler struggled to find his rhythm and played just 20 minutes. His big performance Friday isn't likely to be replicated anytime soon.
News: Mayo scored just four points (2-7 FG) in Saturday's loss to the Bobcats.
Impact: Although the Bucks continue to free fall, Mayo has struggled to score of late. After a trio of 20-plus point games, he has failed to reach double figures in each of the past three games. He's played more than 30 minutes in just one of those contests as Larry Drew continues to unsuccessfully tinker with the rotation.
News: Middleton had 20 points (8-13 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT) with three rebounds, one assist and one rebound in 28 minutes of action Saturday against the Bobcats.
Impact: Middleton not only led the Bucks in scoring but in minutes as well. He's been a part of the rotation all season and saw plenty of playing time, as the Bobcats pulled away in the second half. Still, his consistency is lacking so he isn't really a viable fantasy option at this point.
News: Ilyasova scored seven points (3-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and had two rebounds in 21 minutes of action Saturday.
Impact: After playing 41 minutes Friday, Ilyasova saw his minutes cut in half Saturday, primarily because the Bobcats pulled away early in the second half. Regardless, he is a good fantasy option with his ability to score, shoot the three-pointer, and rebound.
News: Knight will be available for limited minutes Saturday against the Bobcats.
Impact: Knight has missed the last five games. The Bucks will be cautious with their 21-year-old point guard and it may take him a few weeks to return to a starter's complement of minutes.
Sat. Nov 23, 2013 | STATS
News: Butler exploded for a season-high 38 points on 13-of-22 shooting in a 115-107 overtime loss at Philadelphia on Friday.
Impact: Butler also had eight rebounds and hit 4 of 8 from 3-point range.
News: Butler provided 38 points (13-22 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 8-11 FT) with eight boards, three rebounds, and three steals in the overtime loss to Philadelphia on Friday.
Impact: Butler came within two points of equaling his career high set in the 2007-08 season when he was playing with the Wizards. The 33 year old is no longer able to average 20 points, but he showed he still has some tough juice left in his old bones.
Luke Ridnour - #13 - Guard - 6'2" - 175lbs
News: Ridnour had nine assists, but just four points (1-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT) in the overtime loss to Philadelphia on Friday. He played 34 minutes.
Impact: Ridnour's minutes have been on the rise as he gets healthier, but his offense is still missing. In his four games since returning from a back injury, Ridnour is averaging 5.8 points, but has 19 dimes in his last three games.
News: Ilyasova scored 19 points (9-17 FG, 1-4 3Pt) with six rebounds and six assists in his return to the starting lineup Friday in the overtime loss to the 76ers. He recorded three steals in 41 minutes.
Impact: Ilyasova returned from a six-game absence on Wednesday in the loss to Portland, but nearly doubled his minutes in the loss in Philly. As long as he is playing heavy minutes, Ilyasova is a worthy play for points, boards, and threes.
News: Ilyasova will return to the starting lineup Friday against the Sixers.
Impact: Ilyasova returned to action Wednesday and appeared rusty. However, once he gets back into game shape, he should have a solid impact from a fantasy perspective. This move looks to reduce Khris Middleton and John Henson's minutes.
News: Knight (hamstring) will not play in Friday's game against the Sixers, the Delaware County Daily Times reports.
Impact: Knight made the trip with the team to Philadelphia but was deemed not ready for play prior to Friday's game. Luke Ridnour will start at point guard with rookie Nate Wolters coming off the bench. Knight's status for Saturday's game is uncertain at this point.
News: Mayo is good to go Friday at Philadelphia, after injuring his left ankle during Wednesday's loss to the Blazers, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact: The news marks the first mention of any ailment suffered by Mayo in the Bucks' previous contest, but it surely explains his lousy usage in comparison to the rest of his game log. In 25 minutes, he failed to reach double-digit points for just the third time this season, putting up nine points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, and one assist. Expect a return to normalcy against the Sixers' league-worst defense (109.8 points allowed per game).
News: Knight (hamstring) is doubtful to take the court Friday in Philadelphia.
Impact: A decision on Knight's status could be made as early as morning shootaround, but a game-time decision is certainly in play for the Bucks' expected starting point guard, when healthy. In his stead, Luke Ridnour is slated to start at the point, with Nate Wolters providing support off the bench.
News: Mayo scored nine points (3-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with three rebounds, and one assist in 25 minutes Wednesday.
Impact: Mayo struggled on the court Wednesday and failed to reach his season averages in many statistical categories. He only took eight shots, which contributed to his lower than normal point totals. As the Bucks get healthier, expect Mayo's shot totals to decrease as more scorers return to the lineup. Still, Mayo is the team's best scorer, and should lead the Bucks in points this season. At the end of the game Wednesday, Mayo appeared to tweak his right ankle, but should remain in the Bucks' and fantasy owners' starting lineups.
News: Knight (hamstring) will make the trip with the team for Friday's matchup against the Sixers, FoxSportsWisconsin.com reports.
Impact: Knight and the Bucks took it easy during Thursday's practice, as the team has dealt with a plethora of injuries at nearly every position of late. Knight said he was feeling good after his workout though, which improves his chances of contributing in Friday's contest. He will remain a game-time decision, as Friday morning's shootaround and pregame warmups will both come into play for coach Larry Drew when deciding whether or not his starting point guard will suit up.
News: Knight (Hamstring) is expected to practice Thursday, Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times reports.
Impact: Knight, the Bucks' starting point guard, has played in just one game since the season opener, and only played 15 minutes in that game. Nate Wolters and Luke Ridnour have split time at point guard in Knight's absence, and the Bucks will likely err on the side of caution for his return. When he is healthy, Knight will take a majority of the minutes at the point.
