Danilo Gallinari - #8 - Small Forward - 6'10" - 225lbs
Fri. Jan 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Gallinari (back) practiced on Friday for the first time since early November, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Gallinari scrimmaged earlier in the week, so progress is being made in his return from a bulging disc. He's at least two weeks away from playing. Nate Robinson - #4 - Guard - 5'9" - 180lbs
Fri. Jan 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Against the Mavericks Thursday night, Robinson shot 25% from the field scoring only 9 points, four rebounds, one assist, and three steals.
Impact: Since a December 26th game against Denver, Robinson has not shot over 30% in any game. He is still getting minutes, but he's gone cold and really only contributes with threes or steals. It is probably prudent to sit him for a few games and wait for him to bounce back. The problem is that a large proportion of his shots are from three-point range and he hasn't been as aggressive going to the basket lately. Chris Duhon - #1 - Point Guard - 6'1" - 185lbs
Fri. Jan 9, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Duhon led the Knicks with 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting (4-of-5 3pt) with two rebounds and seven assists in 38 minutes Thursday night in New York's loss to Dallas.
Impact: Although his turnovers have steadily increased since the start of the season, Duhon's been pretty good in his first full-time gig in the NBA. He's averaging 8.2 assists and 3.0 turnovers per game, while being an effective scorer (12.4 ppg, 41.2% 3pt) and rebounder (3.9 rpg) from the point guard spot. Chris Duhon - #1 - Point Guard - 6'1" - 185lbs
Fri. Jan 9, 2009 |
STATS
News: Duhon hit his first nine shots and scored 24 points on Thursday, but the Dallas Mavericks overcame a subpar game from an ill Nowitzki to beat the New York Knicks 99-94.
Impact: Duhon hasn't had double digits in assists for the past five games, but he's averaging 21.0 points in his last two. Chris Duhon - #1 - Point Guard - 6'1" - 185lbs

News: Curry (knee) made his season debut Thursday night, playing three minutes off the bench in New York's loss to Dallas.
Impact: Curry had two rebounds and two points in the loss. It's hard to imagine Curry having a big impact in coach Mike D'Antoni's fast-paced offense. Still, he's the best low-post scorer the Knicks have and there's certainly a need for some balance inside. Eddy Curry - #34 - Center - 6'11" - 285lbs

News: Curry played in his first game of the season Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks.
Impact: Curry missed the first 33 with a right knee injury. He entered with 2:42 left in the first, and scored his first basket on a wide-open layup just over a minute later. The 6-foot-11 Curry, who has not played since New York's last preseason game, is in his fourth season with the Knicks. He averaged 13.2 points and 4.7 rebounds last season. News: Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said his team has gotten into bad habits with Harrington being the biggest violator, Newsday reports.
Impact: Essentially, the coach feels the Knicks are not running enough and they get stalled into playing one-on-one basketball at times. "The tendency is we dribble too much, we hold it too much," D'Antoni said. "We have to try to get back to where the ball is flying around and guys are touching it and making the extra pass ... I like a good, quick shot, but it's got to be a good shot. We're just jacking shots up sometimes." D'Antoni installed some set plays for end of game situations, which he said had carried over to whole games. He'll get back to the "Seven Seconds or Less" offense that was so successful in Phoenix and at times in New York. How this impacts Harrington's playing time is probably up to the player himself. Will he respond the way D'Antoni wants? Eddy Curry - #34 - Center - 6'11" - 285lbs
Thu. Jan 8, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Curry (knee) is expected to make his season debut Thursday against Dallas, Newsday reports.
Impact: It was thought that Curry would be available Tuesday in Oklahoma City, but he did not play in the loss to the Thunder. Interestingly enough, Curry is expected to return just as coach Mike D'Antoni has avowed to return to his run-and-gun style the team got away from in the last few games. We don't expect a lot of minutes for Curry right away, so hold off on activating him. Danilo Gallinari - #8 - Small Forward - 6'10" - 225lbs
Thu. Jan 8, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Gallinari (back) scrimmaged on Tuesday and is getting closer to participating in full practices, the New York Times reports.
Impact: Gallinari's return to game action is still undetermined as he still feels the shooting pain down his leg from the lower back injury. "The pain in some moments is still there," Gallinari said. "I'm not feeling perfect, but for sure, I'm feeling better than the first time I tried to come back." Nate Robinson - #4 - Guard - 5'9" - 180lbs
Wed. Jan 7, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Robinson had 12 points on 4-of-18 shooting, including 0-of-7 from 3-point range, in New York's loss to Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Impact: Since the Christmas holiday, Robinson is 25-for-86 (29.1%) from the field, and 7-of-35 (20%) from 3-point range. Jared Jeffries - #20 - Guard-Forward - 6'11" - 240lbs
Wed. Jan 7, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Jeffries (knee) started and played 20 minutes Tuesday night in New York's loss to Oklahoma City.
Impact: Jeffries had hyperextended his left knee during Sunday's win over Boston and sat out practice on Monday. He had four points and two rebounds in the loss to the Thunder. Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs
Wed. Jan 7, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas (toe) returned to action Tuesday after missing two games because of a sore big toe on his right foot.
Impact: Thomas had eight points, one rebound, one assist and two steals in 16 minutes off the bench. He'll continue to fill a bench role in New York and will occasionally bust out with a nice scoring night, but he should not be nightly starter on fantasy rosters. Eddy Curry - #34 - Center - 6'11" - 285lbs
Tue. Jan 6, 2009 |

News: New York coach Mike D'Antoni said Curry won't make his season debut Tuesday night when the Knicks play the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Impact: Curry has missed the entire season with a knee injury. D'Antoni said last week that Curry could return to the Knicks' lineup during a four-game Western Conference road trip that began in Oklahoma City. Curry has practiced twice with the Knicks in recent days but was on the inactive list for Tuesday's game. D'Antoni wants Curry to ``have a few more practices in him'' before returning to the court. News: Curry (knee) may make his season debut Tuesday night in Oklahoma City, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Curry has been practicing with the club lately and accompanied the team on its four-game road trip. If he plays Tuesday, it will likely be in a garbage-time situation, or very short stints. Quentin Richardson - #23 - Guard-Forward - 6'6" - 235lbs
Mon. Jan 5, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Richardson scored only two points on one of 13 shooting from the field in Sunday's victory over Boston
Impact: Fantasy owners and NBA fans always scratch their heads wondering why Richardson starts, but he plays great perimeter defense and gets hot once a week. For instance, he had a 10 for 19 night on December 21st against Boston, a six for 12 day against the Lakers on December 16th, and seven of 14 against Detroit on December 7th. Over the course of a season though, he kills your field goal percentage and doesn't play the type of defense that creates steals. He stays at home, has good fundamentals, and is a coach Mike D'Antoni favorite, but he could bury your team. Al Harrington - #7 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs
Mon. Jan 5, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Harrington had another monster game for the Knicks off the bench scoring 30 on 11-of-23 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, two assists, and four of eight from 3-point range.
Impact: Harrington owners breathed a collective sigh of relief over the weekend after he was benched. The numbers for Baby Al have actually gone up since the benching. It's possible that he gets even more shots running with Nate Robinson on the energy unit. The Knicks play only seven to eight players a night so everyone should get their numbers. Wilson Chandler - #21 - Forward - 6'8" - 220lbs
Mon. Jan 5, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Chandler scored a game-high 31 points on 9-of-19 shooting (two 3-pointers) and 11-of-12 from the free-throw line in New York's upset victory over Boston.
Impact: Chandler added eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot to an impressive stat line. Chandler has been emerging as the Knicks' go-to guy the last three games. Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs

News: Harrington scored 30 points as the Knicks snapped an eight-game losing streak against the sputtering Celtics with a 100-88 victory Sunday night.
Impact: Harrington continued his scoring binge since joining coach Mike D'Antoni's team in New York. Harrington has averaged 13.3 points in his career, but he's scoring 22.7 per game with New York, averaging 19.0 field goal attempts - including 7.2 from 3-point range. But he hadn't done anything quite like Sunday's performance, when he was 9-of-19 from the field and 11-of-12 from the free throw line against perhaps the league's best defensive team. RotoWire
News: Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh said he will meet with Marbury next week to discuss a contract buyout, Newsday reports.
Impact: With reports circulating that Boston is interested in Marbury, Walsh hopes that will be motivation for Marbury to get a deal done. "I plan to talk to them next week," the Knicks' president said before Friday night's game against the Pacers, the 16th game the Knicks have played since Marbury was banished from the team Nov. 29. "I don't know anything about teams that made offers as reported [Friday] at all. If there is, then that would seem to be motivation to talk." Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs

News: Curry (knee) returned to practice Saturday and is expected to play during New York's four-game road trip beginning Tuesday in Oklahoma City, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Curry, who has yet to play this season because of a bruised knee, appeared winded at Saturday's scrimmage and will need a few more practices before he can help the Knicks. Coach Mike D'Antoni said he can envision Curry as the Knicks starting center once he gets into shape. The Knicks are lacking a low-post scorer and Curry, who averages 13.5 points per game for his career, could be fill that need. Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs

News: Thomas sat out Friday night's loss to the Pacers because of a right big toe injury.

News: Curry (knee) will be cleared to practice during the Knicks' upcoming four-game road trip, which begins next Tuesday in Oklahoma City, according to a team source, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Curry is expected to practice Wednesday between stops in OKC and Dallas and could see action at some point in Houston (Saturday) or New Orleans (Jan. 12). We're not expecting much right away from Curry, who will have, to put it kindly, conditioning problems. Stephon Marbury - #3 - Point Guard - 6'2" - 200lbs
Sat. Jan 3, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Marbury's odds of joining the Celtics soon if at all are "slim" according to the Boston Herald. Marbury's first choice reportedly is not Boston, he is far apart from a buyout agreement with the Knicks, and the Celtics are still testing Gabe Pruitt in the backup point guard role, according to the report.
Impact: This news should surprise those who had Marbury all signed with the C's, and should keep fantasy owners away from the much-maligned guard for the forseeable future. Were he to eventually join a team, even if it's Boston, it will be in a severely limited role and with major playing time restrictions. Stephon Marbury - #3 - Point Guard - 6'2" - 200lbs
Fri. Jan 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: A source close to the situation said Marbury will end up with the Celtics, if the guard can negotiate his way out of his contract with the Knicks, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Negotiations between Marbury and the Knicks had been contentious, and the two sides haven't met since a meeting in late November. Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh has made the buyout a priority in the new year. Al Harrington - #7 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs
Fri. Jan 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Harrington will come off the bench again on Friday against the Pacers, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Harrington, the Knicks' leading scorer, has been replaced in the starting lineup each of the past two games. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni wants to go with a more defensive lineup featuring Jared Jeffries on the floor to start games, but it's a tad premature to say the Knicks are a good defensive team based on holding Charlotte to 89 points on Tuesday. Whatever happens, Harrington will get his minutes off the bench and will need to hit his shots (7-of-17, 16 points against the Bobcats) to be an effective points producer. Danilo Gallinari - #8 - Small Forward - 6'10" - 225lbs
Fri. Jan 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Gallinari (back) said he's about two or three weeks away from practicing, the New York Post reports.
Impact: This aligns with earlier reports that said he's intensified his workouts and would return to the court sometime in January. Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs
Fri. Jan 2, 2009 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas, who has a sprained right big toe, received a cortisone shot on Thursday and is questionable for Friday night's game against the Pacers, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Thomas was unable to practice Thursday after being limited to nine minutes in Tuesday's victory over Charlotte. Jared Jeffries - #20 - Guard-Forward - 6'11" - 240lbs
Tue. Dec 30, 2008 |
RotoWire
News: Jeffries started at center for the second consecutive game Tuesday night in the Knicks' victory over the Bobcats.
Impact: Jeffries had eight points, five rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots in 31 minutes in the win. He could really use more bulk if he wants to make a living as a center, so we're not expecting big rebounding numbers from Jeffries. David Lee - #42 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 240lbs
Tue. Dec 30, 2008 |
RotoWire
News: Lee had 13 points (5-of-11 FG) with 16 rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in 39 minutes Tuesday night in New York's victory over Charlotte.
Impact: Lee has been moved to power forward in the last two games with Jared Jeffries starting at center, but it hasn't impacted his production a bit as he recorded his second straight double-double. In the 20 games since Zach Randolph was traded, Lee has 18 double-doubles. Al Harrington - #7 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs

RotoWire
News: Harrington continued to come off the bench Tuesday night, scoring 16 points on 7-of-17 shooting with six rebounds, two turnovers, one steal and one blocked shot in 30 minutes in New York's victory over Charlotte.
Impact: Harrington has been moved to the bench following a tough stretch in which he's shot just 35 percent from the field in previous six games. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni wants him to be more judicious in his shot selection, but his shooting woes continued. Quentin Richardson - #23 - Guard-Forward - 6'6" - 235lbs
Tue. Dec 30, 2008 |

News: Richardson was back in the starting lineup Tuesday night in New York's victory over Charlotte.
Impact: Richardson had 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting with two 3-pointers, two rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes in the win. He was coming off an ankle injury and played just 14 minutes off the bench in Sunday's loss to Denver. Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs

News: Thomas (toe) played nine minutes off the bench Tuesday night in New York's victory over Charlotte.
Impact: Thomas had missed Monday's practice because of a sore toe, but it was not considered a serious injury. We should note that he came off the bench following a start in Sunday's loss to Denver, as Quentin Richardson was back in the starting lineup for the Knicks. Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs

Tue. Dec 30, 2008 |
RotoWire
News: Harrington met with Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni following the coach's decision to bring him off the bench in Sunday's loss to Denver, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Harrington played his fewest minutes as a Knick on Sunday, and was removed for most of the final stretch of the game. Harrington said the coach wants him to play with more energy. "He just wants overall just more energy. Just more energy from me on both ends of the floor," Harrington said. "Just play with a little bit more joy again." Harrington has been in a shooting slump (35% FG in last six games), mirroring the team's slump (six straight losses). D'Antoni said Harrington could start Tuesday night at Charlotte. News: Curry (knee) said he's getting closer to a return, but will not be able to practice this week, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Curry is hoping to be on the floor and playing for the Knicks sometime in early January. Nate Robinson - #4 - Guard - 5'9" - 180lbs
Dec 28, 2008 |
RotoWire
News: Robinson played 30 minutes, scored 20 points on five of 17 shooting and also grabbed two rebounds, two steals, and dished out four assists.
Impact: After a start against Minnesota, Nate went back to the bench. His production has been steady either way and he should be a top candidate for sixth man of the year so far so this doesn't affect his value much. Al Harrington - #7 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs
Dec 28, 2008 |
RotoWire
News: Harrington came off the bench Sunday night against the Nuggets scoring 15 points on five of 12 shooting.
Impact: Considering Jared Jeffries went one for six in his return against Minnesota and grabbed seven rebounds in 33 mintues, while Harrington scored 26, it makes little sense that coach Miek D'Antoni benched Harrington and Nate Robinson for Jeffries and Tim Thomas. D'Antoni's constantly stated that he likes Jeffries' versatility and defense, but New York fans have yet to see any of this vaunted Jared Jeffries D. Harrington owners can only hope this was a one-game or temporary change. Wilson Chandler - #21 - Forward - 6'8" - 220lbs
Dec 28, 2008 |
RotoWire
News: Chandler went six of 19 from the field scoring 17 points with four rebounds and one assist.
Impact: Chandler went one for 9 from three-point range and has been awful in December. Some of it has coincided with the arrival of Al Harrington, but for the most part it is just Chandler going cold. Luckily for his owners, coach Mike D'Antoni has stuck with him, but who knows how long it will last if he continues to shoot at 38.6% from the field as he's done in December. Dec 28, 2008 |

News: Duhon (head) started and played 44 minutes Sunday in New York's loss to Denver.
Impact: Duhon had received nine stitches in his head to close a cut sustained during Friday night's loss to the Timberwolves. Jared Jeffries - #20 - Guard-Forward - 6'11" - 240lbs
Dec 28, 2008 |

News: Jeffries replaced Al Harrington in the starting lineup Sunday in New York's loss to Denver.
Impact: Jeffries had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal in 37 minutes in his first start of the season. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni had been considering changes in the starting lineup, and moving Harrington to the bench appears to be one of those moves. Tim Thomas was also in the starting lineup in place of Quentin Richardson. Tim Thomas - #2 - Forward - 6'10" - 240lbs
Dec 28, 2008 |
RotoWire
News: Thomas started at small forward Sunday in New York's loss to Denver.
Impact: It's not known whether Thomas starting was part of coach Mike D'Antoni's plan to tinker with the starting lineup, or his start was the result of Quentin Richardson still feeling soreness in his right ankle. D'Antoni has not been pleased with his team's effort in the last week or so, and hinted at changes in the last few days. Thomas scored nine points in 18 minutes in the loss. Al Harrington - #7 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs

News: Harrington came off the bench Sunday in New York's loss to Denver.
Impact: Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni has been considering changes to the starting lineup, and starting Jared Jeffries in place of Harrington was one of the two moves he made Sunday. Tim Thomas also started, moving Quentin Richardson to the bench. Harrington had 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting with two 3-pointers, three rebounds and two steals in 26 minutes off the bench. The playing time was his lowest since joining the Knicks. Quentin Richardson - #23 - Guard-Forward - 6'6" - 235lbs

News: Richardson returned to action Sunday after missing one game with a sprained right ankle.
Impact: Richardson was not in the starting lineup and played just 14 minutes off the bench. It's not known whether the reserve role is something permanent or a function of a tender ankle. We do know that coach Mike D'Antoni has considered tinkering with his starting lineup, so starting Tim Thomas ahead of Richardson could be part of that plan. D'Antoni also started Jared Jeffries in place of Al Harrington. Quentin Richardson - #23 - Guard-Forward - 6'6" - 235lbs

News: Jeffries returned to action Friday night after missing three games because of a sore left leg.
Impact: Jeffries, who made his season debut Dec. 5 after breaking his left fibula during training camp, was still experiencing soreness in the leg and needed to strengthen it more. He played a season-high 33 minutes Friday, scoring three points with seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and four turnovers. Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni has shortened his rotation to eight players, so Jeffries should continue to get good minutes off the bench. Quentin Richardson - #23 - Guard-Forward - 6'6" - 235lbs

News: Jeffries (leg) returned to practice Thursday and will play Friday night against the Timberwolves, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Jeffries, who suffered a broken fibula in training camp, made his season debut on Dec. 5. In the six games he played, Jeffries learned that he needed to strengthen the leg. "I had a chance to work on getting my explosiveness back," said Jeffries, who missed the last three games. "I feel like my leg is a lot stronger. It feels good to get my strength back and confidence back in my leg." Al Harrington - #7 - Forward-Center - 6'9" - 245lbs

News: Harrington said he is re-committing hims elf to scoring inside first before drifting outside for perimeter shots, the New York Daily News reports.
Impact: Harrington can shoot the long-range jumper, but needs to diversify his game in order to be as effective as he can be. He's shooting just 12-for-46 (38 points) in the last three games with half of his attempts coming from behind the 3-point line. "At this point now when I play my next game I've got to start inside out," Harrington said. "I just can't rely on shooting threes to start the game off. I've got to know how I got here." Harrington was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week last week when he was mixing in more inside scoring opportunities and getting to the free-throw line. News: Curry (knee) will rejoin the team in full-contact practice next week and could make his season debut in two weeks, the New York Post reports.
Impact: Curry on Monday finished a three-week program, during which he received an injection in his bruised right knee once a week. He hasn't practiced since the regular season began, but could start doing on-court drills by the Christmas holiday. The Knicks have been going with a seven-man rotation for a long stretch, which is taking its toll on Wilson Chandler. Curry can spell Chandler while also becoming the low-post scorer he was prior to the Knicks acquisition of Zach Randolph last season. If Curry is healthy, in shape, and properly motivated -- none of those three conditions are a given at this point -- he could become a surprising source of points for fantasy owners. News: Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said the bone bruise in Curry's left leg is improving and the center is close to getting back on the court, Newsday reports.
Impact: Curry is about two to three weeks away from practicing again. "They say a couple weeks start practicing, then playing soon, but that may be wishful thinking," said D'Antoni.
