News: Knicks GM Glen Grunwald said the Knicks plan on bringing back Jeremy Lin for the 2013 season, New York Newsday reports.
Impact: Coach Mike Woodson hinted at this a few weeks ago, and now the GM is speaking out on the subject. Lin will become a restricted free agent on July 1st, but the NBA Players Association is trying to get Lin "early bird" rights, which would allow the Knicks to sign Lin without using their mid-level exception. J.R. Smith - #8 - Guard-Forward - 6'6" - 220lbs

News: Smith was arrested Thursday after a routine stop revealed that he had a bench warrant out for failing to appear in court in regard to a citation issued for possessing an invalid license and operating a scooter, the New York Times reports.
Impact: This shouldn't have any bearing on his contract status for next season. It's generally believed Smith will opt out of the second year of his deal with the Knicks to become an unrestricted free agent. From there, he'll have the freedom to sign a long-term contract with any team. J.R. Smith - #8 - Guard-Forward - 6'6" - 220lbs

Impact: The league's coaches favored Orlando's Dwight Howard, the NBA's leading rebounder and its top defensive player three straight years before Chandler, as their center. Amar'e Stoudemire - #1 - Forward-Center - 6'10" - 260lbs

News: The Miami Heat and public-address announcer Michael Baiamonte are apologizing to Stoudemire and the New York Knicks for a comment about how the forward was "extinguished from the game'' when he fouled out of Game 5 of the teams' Eastern Conference first-round series.
Impact: After Wednesday's game, Stoudemire was quoted saying that the comment "doesn't bother me.'' |
