News: Bradley Beal scored 27 points and Washington clinched the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 118-102 win over Boston on Wednesday night.
Impact: Beal jumped up to 17.0 points per game this season after averaging 13.9 as a rookie last year.
Wed. Apr 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Beal finished with 27 points (10-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and seven rebounds in 36 minutes against the Celtics on Wednesday.
Impact: Beal really blossomed into one of the league's better shooting guards this season and Wednesday's game is a perfect example. The second-year player made double-digit field goals and a trio of long-range shots en route to nearly 30 points. Then, for good measure, Beal pulled down seven rebounds, letting him enter the postseason full of confidence.

News: Hilario insists that the team will keep his minutes to less than 20 for the regular season finale Wednesday against the Celtics, CSN Washington reports.
Impact: The Wizards will play Hilario Wednesday, but likely hold him to a minutes limit to keep him fresh for the playoffs. This is not too out of the ordinary, considering he has averaged 20.3 minutes on the floor in the three games he has played since returning from in injury on April 9.
Tue. Apr 15, 2014 | STATS
News: Ariza scored 25 points Monday to lead the Wizards, who shot 59 percent and made 14 3-pointers and remain one game ahead of the Bobcats in the race for the No. 6 seed.
Impact: He totaled 23 points in the previous four contests.
Mon. Apr 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Harrington scored 16 points (6-8 FG, 4-6 3Pt) to go along with four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 18 minutes Monday against the Heat.
Impact: Harrington has played at least 17 minutes in each of his last three games and been able to produce, as he's averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and two three-pointers. Owners in desperate need of some help may want to consider adding him for the Wizards' last game Wednesday against Boston.
Mon. Apr 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene (knee) scored 18 points (8-12 FG, 2-4 FT) to go along with four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 24 minutes Monday against the Heat.
Impact: Nene appears to be rounding back into shape and is an important player for the Wizards to have back into the fold for their playoff run.
Mon. Apr 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene (knee) is on the active roster Monday and thus could see some run against the Heat, NBA.com reports.
Impact: Nene has yet to play more than 20 minutes since returning from injury and isn't a very enticing option due to his lack of run, as the Wizards are trying to preserve him for the playoffs.
Mon. Apr 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Despite feeling ill during Monday morning's shootaround, Beal expects to play against the Heat, CSN Washington reports.
Impact: Beal was noticeably uncomfortable Monday morning, but he understands the importance of the evening's game for the Wizards' playoff seeding. The Wizards need to win Monday night to hang on to the No. 6 seed, and Beal feels personally obligated to step in and guard Dwayne Wade, a matchup that he takes "personally." He'll undoubtedly be a bit under the weather, but it remains to be seen how much this will affect his performance.
Sat. Apr 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gortat provided 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-4 FT) with 13 rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes in the win over the Bucks on Saturday.
Impact: Gortat, who has averaged 16.8 points and 10.2 rebounds in his last five games, has been alternating double-doubles and single-digit rebounding performances.
Sat. Apr 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Beal scored 26 points (12-22 FG, 2-7 3Pt) with five assists in 37 minutes in the win over the Bucks on Saturday.
Impact: Beal has only averaged 12.7 points in his three previous games. He isn't attacking the basket much and didn't attempt a free throw for the second time in three games.
Sat. Apr 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene (knee) won't play in the second game of a back-to-back set Saturday against the Bucks, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact: Nene, who had 10 points Friday against the Magic, will sit Saturday but should be ready to play in the playoffs. Trevor Booker may see more minutes.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | STATS
News: Nene scored 17 points on Friday night in just his second game back after missing more than a month of action because of a sprained knee.
Impact: The Washington big man has scored in double-figures in both games since returning and should be ready to go when the playoffs tip off next week.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wall provided 10 points (3-10 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT) with five rebounds and 12 assists in 37 minutes in the win over the Magic on Friday.
Impact: Wall's 3-point shot has improved in his fourth season, but it appears to have gone cold in his last five games, during which he's just 3-of-14 from deep (21.4 percent). Moreover, he hasn't recorded a steal in his last three outings.
Fri. Apr 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Porter played a season-high 26 minutes, providing nine points (4-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT) with a team-high nine rebounds in the win over the Magic on Friday.
Impact: Injuries have limited the third overall pick of the 2013 draft, but the rookie had a solid game off the Wizards' bench. With the team's playoff appearance assured, maybe Porter will get a bit more run in the final games of the season, which could make him a nice pickup in deeper leagues.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | STATS
News: Wall had 14 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists Wednesday in an overtime loss to Charlotte.
Impact: It was his second triple-double of the season and the third of his career.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | STATS
News: Gortat had 27 points and 14 rebounds Wednesday in a loss to Charlotte.
Impact: He's averaging 20.3 points and 10.0 rebounds in four April games.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gortat exploded for 27 points (13-18 FG, 1-1 FT) and 14 rebounds in 44 minutes versus Charlotte on Wednesday.
Impact: Gortat put together a dominant performance, leading the Wizards in both points and rebounds. The center has shot over 70 percent in three of his four outings this month, while also making at least eight shots in each of those games. Gortat also added three assists and two blocks for good measure Wednesday, capping off an outstanding display.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene (knee) saw his first action since Feb. 23 on Wednesday, when he scored 10 points (5-9 FG, 0-4 FT) in 17 minutes against Charlotte.
Impact: Nene came off the bench in his return from a sprained left MCL on Wednesday. However, given his extended lay-off and the magnitude of Wednesday's game, Nene's minutes were understandably limited. Nevertheless, he was pretty effective scoring the ball, although it's worth noting he did not record a rebound. With the Wizards expected to be careful with easing Nene back into the fold, Trevor Booker could see a few more starts at power forward, although he'll likely be relegated to the bench at some juncture. In any event, Nene probably doesn't hold serviceable fantasy value outside of the deepest leagues at this point.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wall went for a triple-double on Wednesday, scoring 14 points (6-18 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT) to go with 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 42 minutes of action versus the Bobcats.
Impact: Wall didn't shoot very well, but reached double-figures in rebounds and assists to claim another triple-double this season. The former No. 1 overall pick has blossomed into a fantasy stud in his fourth professional campaign, adding further depth to a loaded point guard position league-wide.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Ariza (illness) did not score (0-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT) in 39 minutes Wednesday versus Charlotte.
Impact: Ariza overcame illness to start as usual Wednesday, but the small forward surprisingly offered absolutely nothing in the scoring department despite nearing 40 minutes. While it's certainly not ideal timing for Ariza to lay an egg on his fantasy owners, he's bound for an improved performance Friday in Orlando.
Wed. Apr 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Ariza (illness) participated in morning shootaround and has been cleared to play Wednesday against the Bobcats, CSN Washington reports.
Impact: The Wizards will certainly be happy to have Ariza at full strength, as Charlotte is only one game behind them for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Expect Ariza to start and play 30-35 minutes, while putting up numbers close to his season averages of 14.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Tue. Apr 8, 2014 | STATS
News: Nene plans to ease himself back when he returns Wednesday from a knee injury. He expects to see limited minutes when Washington hosts the Charlotte Bobcats in a pivotal game in Eastern Conference playoff seeding.
Impact: Nene returned to practice this week for the first time spraining the medial collateral ligament in his left knee Feb. 23. Nene said Tuesday his whole body is sore and he needs to get back to his "old condition." He has five games to return to full basketball shape in time for the playoffs.
Tue. Apr 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene (knee) intends to make his return to the court Wednesday but only expects to play limited minutes, the Charlotte Observer reports.
Impact: Nene could be of use in very deep leagues over the final week, but we're not using him in standard leagues or in any games on daily sites.
Tue. Apr 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene (knee) practiced for a second day in a row Tuesday and seems probable to return to game action Wednesday, the Monumental Network reports.
Impact: Nene will be on some sort of restrictions for the final five games of the regular season, but it's possible he could play in each of those games with the team hoping to get him ready for the playoffs. There weren't a lot of details to hang onto from the report, but it seems like Nene could become a deep league option for the final week of the season.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | STATS
News: Nene has returned to practice after being sidelined six weeks with a sprained knee.
Impact: Nene practiced Monday for the first time since he was injured Feb. 23 in a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Coach Randy Wittman said Nene did ''almost'' everything the Brazilian would do in a regular practice. The coach said he would wait to see how things go on Tuesday before deciding whether Nene plays Wednesday against the Charlotte Bobcats, a pivotal game for playoff seeding in the Eastern Conference.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Ariza did not practice Monday due to an illness, The Washington Post reports.
Impact: While Ariza is under the weather, he will have two days to rest before the Wizards' next game Wednesday against the Bobcats. Consider him questionable for that matchup.
Mon. Apr 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene practiced Monday for the first time since injuring his left knee Feb. 23, The Washington Post reports.
Impact: Nene's participation in Monday's practice session gives him a chance to return Wednesday as anticipated. He may be eased into action having been out for over six weeks, but there is a good chance he will be back at full speed in time for the playoffs.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Porter played seven minutes in Saturday's loss to the Bulls and provided five points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and three rebounds.
Impact: Porter has had a very disappointing rookie season. Fortunately, the Wizards haven't needed much production from their lottery pick. He has made five of his last seven field goals (and two 3-pointers) over his last two games.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gortat scored 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-4 FT) with eight boards in 36 minutes in the loss to the Bulls on Saturday.
Impact: Gortat has been on a nice streak. In his last three games, he has made 24-of-34 (70.6 percent) from the field and has averaged 18.9 points and 8.7 rebounds.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Rice was recalled from Iowa of the NBA's D-League on Saturday, the Monumental Network reports.
Impact: Since landing on the Energy on Feb. 25, Rice has appeared in 16 games, averaging 17.3 points (on 45.6 percent shooting), 5.4 rebounds, 1.9 threes, 1.8 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 26.4 minutes. However, the Wizards' wing rotation is intact, which likely won't afford him much, if any, run as long as he's with the NBA club.
Sat. Apr 5, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nene (knee) may come off the bench upon his return from injury, the Washington Post's Michael Lee reports.
Impact: The Brazilian big man is still without a definitive timetable for his return but is expected to be back soon, despite the Wizards having just six games left on the schedule. Unless you've been able to stash Nene on a DL spot, there are probably better uses of roster spots at this point in the season, as the team will likely ease him back into play, especially given Trevor Booker's solid play in his stead.
