Dan Williams, DT
- Height: 6-foot-3
- Weight: 327 pounds
- School: Tennessee
Coming off his best collegiate season, Williams could have worked his way into the first round of the NFL draft with last fall's effort. Williams, 22, was considered inconsistent during his first three seasons, but he may have quieted those detractors after earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2009. The Memphis native led the conference's defensive tackles with 70 tackles, paced the Volunteers with nine tackles for loss and nine quarterback hurries while posting a career-best 2 1/2 sacks. Williams' presence in the middle made the job of safety Eric Berry and others much easier. Williams, who finished with 160 career tackles and seven sacks, has slimmed down from the 360 pounds he carried when he arrived in Knoxville, and his athleticism and run-stopping ability make him one of the most attractive down lineman in the draft. Teams will also likely be impressed with Williams' versatility - he can play tackle in a 4-3 scheme or nose in the 3-4. Williams had two tackles and broke up a pass in the Jan. 30 Senior Bowl. Williams had 40 tackles and two sacks as a sophomore before making 48 tackles (8 ½ for loss) as a junior, when he and Berry were the only two on the team with three tackles in every game.
