Josh Chapman, DL
- Height: 6-foot-1
- Weight: 310 pounds
- School: Alabama
Chapman was a second-team All-SEC selection for BCS champion Alabama as the nose guard for the top-rated rushing defense in the FBS that allowed 72.2 yards per game. A tremendous run-stopping defensive lineman, Chapman faces major health questions after he underwent surgery for a torn ACL on Jan. 17 that kept him from participating in the NFL scouting combine. Chapman, who played most of the season with the injury, partially took part in the Crimson Tide's pro day March 7 and had 29 reps on the bench press with all 32 NFL teams in attendance. It marked his first effort on the bench since the surgery for a player who would normally be expected to reach around 40 reps. He's been cooperative in allowing his medical information to be available to all teams, and has indicated that he will be re-checked in April. Chapman has kept a positive attitude throughout this process and believes that performing through pain demonstrates what kind of player he is by saying, "I mean, it speaks volumes. I feel that I finished the season strong, and I'm a competitor, and I just love the game of football." If Chapman was healthy, he would likely be a first-round pick. The ACL injury, though, will probably cause him to slip to the third or fourth round since he has a long way to go before he can prove what he can do on a football field again.
