Jared Crick, DT
- Height: 6-foot-6
- Weight: 285 pounds
- School: Nebraska
Crick decided to return to Nebraska rather than join last year's draft, but his senior season didn't go as planned. He sprained a knee in spring practice and had several injuries during the season until he was sidelined for good in October with a torn pectoral muscle. He clearly wasn't in top form in the five games he did play, managing only one sack and 22 total tackles. After a brilliant sophomore season playing alongside Ndamukong Suh, Crick proved he could maintain that production even with his star teammate in the NFL. Crick - a two-time all-conference selection - matched his 2009 total with a team-high 9 1/2 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in 14 games in 2010. Not viewed as a pure pass rusher due to his mediocre foot speed, Crick fits best as an end in a 3-4 scheme. He is very skilled at extending and keeping blockers away due to excellent technique and considerable strength. While not blessed with great speed, Crick is a very good closer once he gets in the backfield and his strong upper body makes it difficult for runners to elude his grasp. Although the pectoral injury prevented him from participating in the bench press at the NFL combine, Crick played 36 games at Nebraska so durability isn't an issue. A likely top 10 pick this year until his injury-riddled senior season, Crick could still be a first-round selection and will be off the board no later than the middle of the second round.
