Jeff Allen, OL
- Height: 6-foot-5
- Weight: 305 pounds
- School: Illinois
Allen started the final 47 games of his career at Illinois and was a two-time All-Big Ten performer at offensive tackle. In 2010, he helped pave the way for the top rushing offense in the conference and the 11th-best in the nation. Mikel Leshoure broke the Illinois single-season rushing record (1,697 yards) behind Allen that season. Allen played both left tackle and right tackle as a two-year captain for the Illini, but probably fits best at guard or right tackle in the NFL. A better-than-expected athlete with good bulk, Allen has the size and foot quickness to be a solid pass protector at the next level. He plays low with excellent leverage and a strong base that makes it tough for defenders to knock him off balance. Although he isn't technically refined and can get lazy with his fundamentals, Allen generally gets the job done and his versatility will only help his draft status. He will have to improve his overall awareness in recognizing extra defenders in the NFL and also cut down on penalties. Allen has enough ability to be an NFL starter after he cleans up a few areas and gains some experience. He figures to come off the board in the middle rounds.
